Sword Art Online Characters Dive Into Another MMO

By Eugene . May 31, 2014 . 5:00pm

Sword Art Online’s Kirito sure keeps busy, always rushing into another online game. This time, the dual-wielding swordsman and some of his harem compatriots are headed into Nexon’s Mabinogi as character skins.

The event runs from now till June the 18th. You’ll be able to purchase items and costumes such as Yui in her ALO fairy form. She’ll come along as a support character and follow around in dungeons, including helping out and having some words to say.

Alongside this are Kirito, Asuna, and Heathcliff skins. It also looks like Asuna’s ALO fairy version is available as well.

Finally, there’s also the possibility of uncrating the wings that their ALO fairy versions sport as a costume additional piece. Elizabeth can also be seen in the video, though it looks like she’s not available yet.

Mabinogi is out now on PC.

Damn, Kirito is everywhere these days!

    • [S]unjay

      He’s also in Oreimo.

Where? I’ve seen OreImo (The show. Great first season and utterly stupefying second harem-like season with the worst ending ever) and I don’t recall seeing him EVER.

The first seasons was really good, I liked the second season too but it wasn’t as good as the first. I disliked the ending too.

The Sword Art Online figures appear in Season 2, Episode 4 when Ria appears. http://benigmatica.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/oreimo-s2-04-03.jpg

          • Nah I give the creator credit for having the balls to go the ending he originally envisioned according to his novel. Most endings shy away from “that” ending and punk out for various reasons. I actually came away with a “Holy shit ‘they’ actually allowed this” kinda feeling since most shows with this angle co-out with the “not blood related” angle or “never take it all the way anyway” route.

Aki Sora being an extreme example ended that way, but then again it was a show that went all the way with its love angle and didn’t hold anything back in it’s manga and only got an OVA-like-treatment for some animated episodes which had no ending. I assume the creator was asked to put a stop to it, and end it with a PSA-like “very special episode” ending or at least that’s the rumor I heard…

Oreimo’s creator, in my speculation, decided to keep the romance more pure and innocent to get a free pass to be given permission to do the ending his way. Otherwise it would’ve gone like usual: where one of the couple moves away so they don’t make a “terrible mistake ” (which is the forced message a show like those normally ends with.) Or again “we is not blood-related oni-chwaaannn” and to me, this always looks like the creators are too scared to “challenge the system.”

But again, kudos to the creator for sticking to his guns, whether it was all his doing or through executive meddling, either way, we got the “ending we deserved” :O

          • [S]unjay

I agree, I guess that it takes guts to have an ending that most people would think is taboo.

  • Konnoke

I thought he looked like Xion from Kingdom Hearts in the first picture

    • Kenny Loh

He also look like Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia in his GGO design lol

  • Terrible models

    • Enju

Mabinogi is a 10 year old game running on a equally ancient engine, cut it some slack.

      • Namuro

The denizens of the internet will never accept obsolete beings. All imperfections must be destroyed!

        • natchu96

          Why not?

      • Yeah i play FF XI myself and the models and game system to me personally are outdated, but because I’ve spent so much time with the game I still play from time to time and they don’t seem dated to me; still great online fun at endgame (a little) and solo-endgame ( a lot) ^ ^

12 yr old game there :P

  • Oguri Murasaki

    This not nexon na huh

I wonder how Korea will react. There was no end to SAO characters when it first hit JP servers.

Also, everyone wore Kirito’s coat. I wanted to PK everyone.

    • M’iau M’iaut

Even I would have approved of using BSOD or the NOL hack from PSO in such instances.

  • Sakota

I’m surprised they made an article on it just now considering JP had it for more than a year ago.

  • Dystopiq

    Keep milking it.
