Rorona And Friends Return For Atelier Quest Board

By Spencer . June 5, 2014 . 1:06am

Gust is bringing the Atelier series to smartphones with Atelier Quest Board this game isn’t an Atelier port, it’s a board game RPG with characters from the Atelier Rorona trilogy.

Atelier Quest Board has an alchemy system and players collect items as they move around on a board. Some characters will ask for specific items. As you progress through the game, you’ll see familiar characters like Sterk and Cordelia. Players will see event scenes with characters when they defeat monsters. You can equip characters with weapons, armor, and different skills. All of these can be made by collecting various items.

Atelier Quest Board will be released soon as a free to play game for iOS and Android.

Okay, fine. Go ahead, Tecmo-Koei/Gust. Long as you keep making the main series games? I don’t care what weird mobile games you make.

Heck, this actually almost sounds interesting enough to try if they bring it to the West.

This sounds soooo cute! I hope we get it like how we got Love Live! School Idol Festival~ That game’s pretty fun and it’s free to play too!

      • It does sound cute! I don’t mind the idea that it might be free-to-play, board games tend to default that to the boards/characters you play with iOS stuff, so I’m not too worried there.

  • AlphaSixNine

As long as this kind of games stay as a side project I don’t care. Just never become like SE Gust, they do too much of this BS .

  • notentirelythere

This is a mobile game that interests me! If the monetization isn’t pay2win and’s all about, say, making new boards/gamepiece expansions available for play, I’m double down… not that it’ll come here, but I’d be glad it just exists somewhere.

    • I could imagine the f2p bit being like how Fortune Street on iOS is: Paying gets you other boards and characters, but you get a default (if somewhat more simple/short board) at the start that you can freely mess around in.

  • RoboAddy

Seemed ok until “free to play”.

    • darke

Yeah I thought “boardgame” and “cute characters I know” and was happy, then… free2pay. Seriously? >.<

      • Rider

        What’s wrong with free2play?

        • darke

Because, with very, very, very few exceptions, the game design is focus on not “what makes a fun game” but “how do I make the customer pay”.

I’m willing to pay large amounts of money to play a game. I’m not willing to play a game who’s primary motivating factor is to get me to pay more money while playing it.

          • Learii

I don’t think anyone would play if you need to pay to play since is not MMORPG is a board game not a online game where you need internet for it

          • Rider

There are more and more “good” free2play games being released as companies learn what players want from the genre.

Personally, I can’t see judging a game to be bad before I’ve seen any information on gameplay or purchase options.

  • Kumiko Akimoto

That sounds pretty nice board game and rpg mix I do like all the mixed genres that come out of the phone market nowadays

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

I suppose this a good way to do it. Sounds interesting though.

  • Kornelious

I suppose it was only a matter of time…although the game is pretty cute so……

  • Yan Zhao

Im ok with this, since Gust actually still makes console Atelier games. So this isnt a co-out like SquareEnix/Capcom.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Is it tough to download japanese games on the NA iOS store? I dunno how it works.

  • laurenhiya21

I generally don’t like playing on my phone but, if this comes over here, I might have to make an exception for this…

  • iLoveNintendo

    I would pay for this.

  • I wish they’d do stuff like this with their older titles. Especially since it’d be a cool chance to introduce the others after Marie to the West properly. (And re-introduce her.)

    I also just want to see Annie again. ;u;

  • Learii

    iphone? =(

    • Aunna Terrell

      “for iOS and Android.”
Like most mobile games, you’ll need a specific version of the update for phones/tablets of those markets.

  • Kevin Lor

Anyone know the name of the song?

  • Job For A [S]unjay

    I can’t wait!
