Tears To Tiara II Is Coming To The West, Elephants And All

By Spencer . June 19, 2014 . 3:03pm

Aquapazza won’t be the only Aquaplus game that made it outside Japan. Siliconera has learned that Tears to Tiara II is being localized for North America.

Tears to Tiara II is a grid based strategy RPG with mounts you can ride. We covered the element system in detail over here. While this is a sequel, the story focuses on two new protagonists with the original Tears to Tiara characters making cameos as downloadable content. Hamil is the last survivor from the royal family and Tart, a goddess that resides over war, comes from another world.

If you’re curious to see what Tears to Tiara II is like there’s a demo on Japan’s PlayStation Store.

  • Masa

Japanese rpg + Western release = best news!
    Looking forward to it.

  • NorthernPatches

Unexpected but welcome. I’m always down for a new strategy RPG.

  • SprintsMcGee

Is….is this a dream? I never thought this would be localized….I’M SO HAPPY!

  • Callonia

Mounts wont’ take up team space? Because Chocobos took up your team space which basically made them useless mostly if you wanted to fight on the back of chocobo

  • Callonia

WAIT! I just noticed that tears to tiara 2 is from leaf at least I now know why it was bugging me like hell. The art style xD First one never got localized lol
Okay I am now happy regardless and my PS3 is ready for it.

    • GÍlgamesh Goldenking

1 thing sorry D,X this game is pure unlike the previous h game ones yeah its CG are pure

      • Callonia

Don’t worry I don’t even expect hentai to show up on my PS3. If it somehow got in, will be pleasant surprise for me.

        • Guest

Lastly one spoiler lol be prepared to get your *** kicked in prologue and your demon blood is just ugh useless against this boss’s attacks the defense of demon blood is low like hell -_- against him only archers and magic can deal damage one thing i liked and everybody will love is that this game has an actual prologue then chapter 1 comes and soundtracks are sad and very good the best sad one songs are played at the exact point in where sad moments are there that is called brilliance .over 9000

      • Lynx

The first game had a remake on the PS3 though and that’s the one they continued with. It overwrote it essentially.

  • SerRompalot

    Yes! Yes! Yess!

  • Manny Being Manny

Wow, didn’t expect that. Was it announced whos localizing it?

  • Yaro

    Wow awesome!

  • Sentsuizan_93

I lost count of how many surprise localizations have occurred this year. Dang…

    • MrSirFeatherFang

      In due time, Gal*Gun!! :V

      • I hope so.

      • Bob Slim

I would be shocked out of mine if that ever happen lol

    • MrTyrant

Most of them are games I don’t want to play. Damn!

      • darke

Well you can’t win everything; most of the non-surprise localisations are games I don’t want to play! :P

        • MrTyrant

          Like Persona?

          • darke

Persona’s more on systems that I won’t buy due to retarded region lock. Once there’s a proper work around for that I’ll quite happily play the latest persona on the 3ds since it has the first-person dungeon-crawl gameplay I like.

          • darke

Oops, realised I didn’t answer this properly… I was more thinking the yet-another-fighter (though one of them is Persona based), yet another SHMUP, yet another game-but-not-much-gameplay VN-like thing (don’t mine VNs with lots of gameplay but mostly ‘adventure’ games bore me), yet more zombies, and so forth.

… actually I just realised I described most of the XB1 lineup. (Though there’s a couple of PS games in there too.)

Most of those are either pretty linear (so easy to translate/QA) or have almost no text to translate, so they’re ‘obvious’ ones that will come over.

  • Jesse

    Is Atlus the localizer, again?

    • Revyatheworldeater .

Hope not, then no chance for dual audio options… I’d hope for Xseed, !FI, or Nisa.

      • DesmaX

But Atlus and Siliconera like to do these little teases

      • Jesse

Eh, could care less about dual audio. =P Though, if it *really* bothers you, Aquapazza was JPN voices only.

        • kroufonz

          it’s fighting game.
atlus only have jp voice in their fighting game this day (kof,p4a etc)

          • Jesse

Guess it depends on whether the JPN voices are reasonable or absurdly expensive. Either works for me.

            And that’s all I’m saying on this before a dual audio argument starts. XD;

          • kroufonz

meh, nisa, xseed, aksys can do it (some of the game have tons of big name seiyuu in it), i don’t believe on their too expensive reason,

if it’s only one/two or three cases then i may believe them but it’s pretty much every game, both their own and 3rd party that isn’t fighter not getting jp voice. now it’s more like their policy or something,

        • Revyatheworldeater .

I think you misread my statement… I like english dubs and japanese dubs for respective reasons, and I find that each case can be better than another depending on the talent involved and how well the voices match. I need english captions as my Japanese written language is garbage but I understand a passable amount of verbal phrases. I just like dual audio more than single audio as I don’t have to hear people rant about not having the original voices, people complaining that the people complaining who prefer Japanese voices are shut-in weeaboos, people who state that the english dub couldn’t possibly be as good, etc ad naseum…..

So I like dual audio and I prefer it as it gives me peace of mind that when I go into any topic regarding the game or forum dedicated to the game that I’m not seeing half the threads with people bitching…

      • Renaldi Saputra

XSeed, Nisa, or Aksys won’t localize without fans requests
this is just being out of nowhere

  • Stopped playing the demo a while back but did I enjoy what I played, even without understanding the Japanese in it.

Would love a EU localisation but a NA shall suffice.

  • IS | 桂木

    Who’s localizing it?

    • Slickyslacker

      Atlus, most likely.

  • Callonia

Looked for localization info on internet and it looks like it isn’t even up yet <_< but I'm in process of playing first tears of tiara now in preparation for ps3 game.

  • DesmaX

Well, color me surprised; really wasn’t expecing this one to come over. I’m buying it (Even though the story was hilariously bad from what I’ve seen from the demo).

    So… Who’s the publisher?

  • Guest

Lol XD i was playing this game i spoiler though in chapter 3 be prepared to due few ties because the boss is -_-

  • Anewme…Again

Damn, this year is full of surprises, i never thought this would come to the west.

  • LM009

1st game is fan-translated so this is perfect :P

  • GamerLegend

    Handheld or Console?

    • Jesse

      It’s for the PS3.

  • Ladius

That’s really awesome, even more so considering Utawarerumono 2 could have a chance too.

  • ivanchu77

Wow, this one was definetly very unexpected.

By the way, weren´t they doing a sequel of utawarerumono too? been a while since i hear of it

    • Ladius

Yeah, there have been no updates on that game for a long time. Let’s hope it’s unveiled soon, it could have a chance too provided it isn’t released too late in PS3’s life cycle.

  • kroufonz

Great (thank god i am waiting for best version before importing)

hope it isn’t atlus so ican get jp voice option, and hear the heroine in kugyu voice.more especially since this is a rpg but also a galge.

    next dungeon traveler vita pls

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

I would love Tears To Tiara, White Album 2, Utawarerumono and it’s sequel too. But this is a fantastic start. And it came out of nowhere!

  • Kaitou21

I watched the anime, ’twas a good one so I’d like to play this sequel.

  • Slickyslacker

    Never thought this would happen.

It’s a good game, right? Grid-based SRPGs are a special breed: with games like FF Tactics and the Tactics Ogre series occupying unique positions on the RPG spectrum.

  • Learii

I never heard of this game but thank you for localized =D

  • RedSuisei

Does this mean… Dungeon Travelers 2 Vita is possible?
    *crosses fingers

  • Merleawe

I’m very surprised by this! The original Tears to Tiara is the only game I have ever imported because at the time I really loved the anime series, I can’t read Japanese at all, but it followed the anime quite closely so I knew what was going on and it was easy enough to understand the mechanics. I’m glad this is being localised because it looks to be a great srpg with lovely character designs and gameplay that I never thought I’d get the chance to play.

    • Raw

You do know Tears to Tiara had a translation patch long before the anime came out, right?

  • Arcana Drill

Wonder what company is brave sufficient to be localizing it, remember being somewhat interested on it last year.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      ATLUS USA again maybe?

  • Kornelious

Wow, I had completely forgotten about this game, I’m surprised someone is localizing it. AWESOME!

Hopefully this also means that Dungeon Travelers 2 will follow! :D

  • ragingmerifes

I loved the japanese demo. Really Jeanne D’arc reminiscent.

  • Fox

I guess if it’s the PS3 version, there aren’t gonna be any sex scenes?

Anyway, I hope it’s an improvement over the first game. The combat was terrible.

    • Yause

      It’s only on PS3.

  • Land of Green Pasture

    this came outta nowhere…

  • Adriana Rorona

The ?’s I have are the normal ones.

Are we getting a physical copy/LE?
    Download only?
    Or both?

  • MrTyrant

    How is the story anyway?

    • Lynx

      It was decent enough.
I liked it more than the first game’s, to be honest.

      • MrTyrant

I read it was linear and I quite don’t like that unless is an epic adventure lel

  • revenent hell

    Well, this was totally unexpected….

I shall lie in wait for a pre order should one appear

  • xXDGFXx

    Andddd pre-ordering when up.

  • new_tradition

Not sure how I feel about it. I’m semi-interested in the gameplay, but I don’t really wanna play another game where I choose who the male MC ends up with. Should I expect that?

Or is that not even this kind of game? I’m really confused. I’m getting results for the the first ero game and barely anything about the second one :/

    • MrTyrant

It’s a linear storyline from what I read so you won’t pick anyone. I read a review somewhere but I need to search for it however everything indicates that is superior to the first game in everything.

      • new_tradition

Thanks for the reply. I was feeling conflicted since there’s all this promo art of the MC with a specific woman (I think the goddess?), so I didn’t wanna muck around with a set dynamic :P

  • Great news I enjoyed the JP ver ALOT. the story is wonderful

    • Renaldi Saputra

wait, so you can read japanese?

      • why not? the game is also fully voiced in JP so that helps alot.

        • Renaldi Saputra

I mean understanding it, the kanji, etc
how about the texts outside the dialogue?

          • its ok nothing hard really

          • Crimson_Cloud

            How are the characters?

    • Kyosuke Yoshino

I’ve also loved this game, I can only recommend it to anyone who didn’t play the original japanese release yet!

  • doubleO7

Great news! I’m assuming you don’t need to have played the first game to understand the second, if that’s the one that was chosen to be localized?

    • Anewme…Again

The first one have a fan patch if you want to play it, but i’m pretty sure it isn’t neccesary to play the first to understand the second.

    • Lynx

      It’s pretty much stand alone.

They are a few references here and there but it does work well by itself. Besides, there’s always the TV series if you want to check out the story of the first.

      • doubleO7

Oh yeah, I forgot about the anime. Thanks, I think I’ll give that a watch beforehand.

  • Dear siliconera I’d apreciate if you tell us the damn SOURCE ffs (sorry if this sounds rude.)

  • Juliano C

Fuck yeah! Cant wait to play it and I hope it open a path for others Aquaplus games :3

  • I’m gonna go with Aksys. I don’t think they have anything major on their plate right now, JRPG-wise. Day one retail.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Wow, pretty surprising.

  • AlphaSixNine

    Wait….seriously? F*YEAH! >:D
    But… who’s localizing it?

  • Well this was like lightning from a clear sky. But I do want to know what company is going to localize this. It´s good news and all but I do want a source for this info since now it seems a bit to much to be true sadly.

  • … I just fell out of my chair in surprise. I wonder who decided to bring it over.

  • Cool! I listen to a lot of game OSTs on youtube when i’m working. And occasionally, some recommended video on the right catches my eye. One time, I clicked on something that i didn’t know what it was (‘cuz of the Japanese text and all), and spent a half hour hunting down what the game was. It was Tears to Tiara. Been interested in it ever since.

I’m super fascinated to hear this now! Can’t wait for more details, Siliconera!

  • Robert Hendrie

I would love if we some how get the first game as well

  • Crimson_Cloud

Wait, what? This came out of nowhere. Awesome though, my PS3’s life just gets extended over and over XD

  • wererat42

    Anything is possible.

  • Bob Slim

yes so happy this game is coming, I really thought it wouldnt come

  • Brotato Chip

    which company is localizing this?

  • If they bring it to the UK I may get it, I have Avalon No Nazo, But not really played it much =?

  • Callonia

Ok I played the first tears of tiara for like nine hours straight? My eyes all blurry now so I know the tears of tiara 2 is gonna be fun XD

  • Anime10121

Wait wait WUT?!?! I never thought I’d see the day when “real” Aquaplus games would come to America :D

I always wanted to play this game as the art is beautiful and the demo seemed pretty fun :D

  • Anesia Hunter

i could’ve sworn we never even got the first game, because aquaplus kept saying “no.” to localizing it.

    • Anime10121

Dont know if its true or not, but I heard they skipped the first game because it was REALLY lewd…

      • Morricane

Well, the first one was originally 18+ on PC, but the PS3 and PSP remakes that Aquaplus did cut out all of that stuff ‘_’ so, no idea why.

      • Anesia Hunter

there were things in it, that well… it wasn’t hentai, but there were bits that left plenty to the imagination, but it still could’ve passed with a rating of M.

  • Will John

Yea baby, played this sucker on the JPSN and understood no words. But I thought the MC having a insane white haired mode was awesome so I kept playing and liked it, so glad its getting a localization.
