Natural Doctrine Tacticians Need To Mind Their Surroundings

By Spencer . August 21, 2014 . 1:20am

Natural Doctrine from Kadokawa Games and published in the West by NIS America is a complicated strategy RPG. Whenever you take a turn a map of possibilities for follow up attacks and enemy counterattacks is shown on screen.

In addition to attacking enemies, players can also change the battlefield by blowing up new paths or opening doors. Natural Doctrine has guns as a weapon and it’s possible to snipe enemies through small holes.

Natural Doctrine is slated for release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4 on September 26.

I remember this not doing so well saleswise in Japan. It looks awesome, so I’ll keep my eye out for it, but I’m kinda worried

    • darke

It really doesn’t have a Japanese ascetic and looks much more like a western game.

And honestly the advertising essentially saying that you will die lots and have to repeatedly grind a level until you succeed has completely turned me off the game even though I was initially interested; so I can completely understand why no one wanted to buy it.

I’ll go play the other games that advertise that they’re fun to play. >.>

I couldn’t care less if the game called my mother fat and punched me in stomach if I wasn’t trying hard enough, A JRPG for PS4 is what I’ve been waiting for since launch.

I was going to agree with you but thats why you were waiting im planning on getting a PS4 eventually but probably after MGS PP FFXV and Kingdom Hearts III (i realize none are exclusive but ill be damned if it just doesnt feel more right to play them on PS for me at least) are out for now i feel good with my wii u wii 3ds vita and ps3 speaking of which my ps3 convinced me to wait on consoles when i picked mine like 2 years ago i had so many games to play (still do) its ridiculous i really wish the X1 was BC because of that ill probably get a 360 over it (for japanese games)

At first I wasn’t liking the trailer because they were focusing on death too much, but then they started showing ways to suceed, and that is a balance I can appreciate. A shame about the graphics though.

That ESRB description sounds pretty badass.

  • I’ve had put this off for now as soo much is coming out September I wont have the time to play them all

  • KazukiNanbu

looks good, it’s been a while since i play a strategic videogame

  • nekolife

Anybody know if this game runs at 60fps on ps4?

  • Tiredman

NIS America is just releasing too many games for me to keep up with nowadays. The last one I got was Mugen Souls Z collectors edition. This game will be added to another 3 or 4 I had to skip because it seems like there is a new game being released monthly by the publisher. Will get it down the line when it gets a bit of a price drop though.

not to munched there releasing 4 game in September right next to each other

  • Ash_Riot

If people want to see more SRPGs from Japan come over to the West then support this game! We’re hardly getting any in this genre anymore, so support it!

  • Ric Vazquez

Don’t know how good this actually is but I think I’ll take the risk and buy it.

  • Kornelious

From what I saw in NISA’s stream the game looks like a lot of fun and pretty challenging……So I’m pretty hyped! :D
