  • Hagaren

Lol, I JUST bought the second one a week ago (at least it was from the recent sale)
Looks like Fujitora is confirmed. And is that a Red Hawk Gattling?!

    • Guardian Byakko

I just got the second one during the sale as well.

      • Hagaren

I don’t regret buying it at all but this really came out of nowhere. They’re trying to milk the series a bit now. Hody and Caesar were not in 2 just so they could make a third one for them. Add in the Dressrosa arc and presto.

        • Primordial Dragon

Not only them, there is also Vergo, and Monet, and a few more characters from Pre-Ts that could be added.

Also I wouldn’t say their trying to milk the series considering that last game came out last year, and this game is most likely coming out next year only.

    • British_Otaku

Video games… Jump Ultimate Stars had a Gigant Gatling long before One Piece showed off anything similar. When in doubt, make a new Rasengan for a Naruto game or movie, similar case here.

      • Hagaren

Fair enough, it looks cool and I hope it will actually appear in canon.

        • British_Otaku

Eventually I guess, at least a Red Hawk Gatling makes more sense right off the bat than Gigant Gatling.

  • Siery

Well, I hope they localize it for Vita in the west this time…

    • freestylinyoshi

So many of the Vita counter parts get left out of localization.

    • AlteisenX

All of my yes please. I hope this is more akin to the original One Piece Pirate Warriors with the cool little platforming and QTEs. I actually enjoyed those. (I haven’t played much of 2, but I didn’t notice if it had any) Now I just need to wait for Crunchyroll to update the rest of One Piece so I can finally catch up all the way. (Only got to episode 325 x[)

  • Cephrien

    AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! > u <

  • Mirai

Awesome hopefully the gameplay story, stays like the 2nd version, as I hated having to jump around as Luffy all the time I just want to kick ass with One Piece characters.

  • After the big drop in sales from Pirate Warriors 1 to 2, I wonder how many people actually care for a Pirate Warriors 3… Then again, considering this is One Piece, there’s probably always going to be a minimum audience for the games, and OmegaForce churns them out on a relatively low budget.

I wonder how large that studio is. They seem to have anywhere between 3-5 Warriors games in development at a time.

    • Anime10121

I thought Pirate Warriors did really good? But I may be remembering wrong, as I wasnt a fan of the series when the games first released, I just got into One Piece a couple months ago…

      • 1 did super well. It crossed 800k in Japan. The second one took a huge dive. As far as I recall, it’s somewhere around 1/3 of PW1’s sales. But I suppose the goal of Warriors games isn’t to sell well… it’s to keep churning them out at a low cost. Plus… 1/3 of 800k is still better than what a lot of games sell.

        • BizarreJelly

I blame that on 1 being so tediously awful. 2 was a huge improvement.

        • Anime10121

Then its probably the first I remember doing that well then…
Oh well, I’m not particularly “fond” of warriors type games anyway, though I did buy the two PW games a couple weeks ago on PSN, but I havent really played much of them though…

        • malek86

One Piece is still extremely popular, but it had an absolute peak around 2011-2012, when the movie came out. At that point, everything OP would sell like hotcakes. I remember manga volumes selling almost 3 million copies first week. It was ridiculous.

Things have returned to more “normal” levels now, well, as normal as it can be when discussing a juggernaut like OP. The manga still sells incredibly well, but at this point, a game would probably not be a guaranteed smash hit like it would have been a couple years ago.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

They were probably didn’t expect much from PW2 because PW1 was so half-assed on many parts

    • British_Otaku

Yeah, I don’t expect this to outsell Pirate Warriors 1 either unless they have another perfect storm. One Piece may be incredibly popular at nearly any point of the long run, but when Strong World released was a serious high point for exposure and Pirate Warriors 1 released close to that.

It is comparable to JoJo’s CC2 PS3 game which released during a huge revival and I expect future games to get less significant numbers.

    • OrangeArmy

I still believe it was because fans were disappointed with PW1 and were expecting more of the same in 2 (which was vastly superior in every way IMO), I know plenty of people that skipped PW2 because of that, but were interested after seeing me play it.

  • PowerSerg

Can we get a physical copy of this game in the North America, please. I would have bought the first and second one if they were physically released.

  • James Williams

I hope it’s like the first game but with playing as different characters during boss fights, it was really awesome. Definitely getting this on PS4!

  • Another one? *sighs* Really? Ah well. I’m not complaining. I did enjoy the first 2. And I love a good Warriors title. Especially the crossovers.

I see Shanks giving Luffy his hat. Here’s hoping it does what Romance Dawn did and covers the whole story from the start up to now.

  • Robert Hendrie

Damn now I have to buy a ps4.

  • Zangetsu777

    NICE!!! I can’t wait for this. =D

  • YES!!

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

So those 3 sake cups…I wonder if it’s hinting at ‘him’ being playable in the game ^^ good to see they’ve finally got a Shanks model in game too so I guess we can count him in this time around :)

    • Herok♞

It would only make sense for him to be playable since after all someone new has to be added, I just hope hes different enough from the other one to not just be a pallet swap

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

We haven’t even seen many feat from him yet. Knowing Koei, at worst he will ended up as Ace’s clone

  • fairysun

    It’s great news no doubt.
But, WTH …. can’t they wait until the Dressrosa arc is completely done? I want to fight Doffy’s army. And Dressrosa looks like a great map for Warrior game.

    • Adam

This probably isn’t coming till May or June my guess and by then Dressrosa will have easily wrapped up (at least for the manga). So its possible PW3 will include the entire Dressrosa Arc. Can’t wait to shove a Grizzly Magnum up Flamingo’s ass.

      • I highly doubt that with Oda’s pacing.

        • Adam

Well Luffy and Law did get to level 4 in the latest chapter so obviously they’re close to Doflamingo. Its not impossible.

          • rax

5 you mean lol. Also a guy up above said “Oda will conclude this arc in a 2 months about a month ago.”

            No links just yet.

    • Bobby Jennings

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

yes this. Back in PW1 and PW2 they were focusing on fanservice first.
PW1 focused so much in Impel Down and Marineford, while many of major arcs like Boroque Work, Skypiea and Thriller Bark got skipped.

Punk Hazard exist in PW2 but it’s not actual Punk Hazard at all. It was obvious they add it just because it’s the latest arc in the manga and people will get the game just because of it.
Now Dressrosa is the one who will take that role. People will get it just because of “Fujitoraaaaa!!!” “Sabooo!!!!!”. Even though it’s likely the game won’t do One Piece “complete story” justice as a whole. (yes i know it’s impossible to capture every single details. But skipping those major arcs feels like they are lazy and only want to do most popular things)

        • Bobby Jennings

Agreed. I also think the whole “original story” thing is a cop-out.

    • Cephrien

The Dressrosa arc will undoubtedly be a part of the game. You can see Law about to take one of Fujitora’s gravity meteors in the scan.

  • Yan Zhao

I still havent finished 2 yet, just unlocked the true ending path and kinda stopped playing cause DW8.

  • Good thing I held back on buying the second one recently

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Why? This game won’t be out for a year or 2 for the west and Pirate Warriors 2 is one of the best musou games in recent memory. Plus it was discounted for 14.99, 7.50 for PS+ users.

  • Bobby Jennings

Hopefully it’s not just a simple cash in like #2 was. I still think #1 was done the best, and then with #2 they just kept it straight musou..

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Arguably, it was better off straight musou.

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

yeah, a lot of new element in PW1 like platforming is interesting but badly done.
        PW2 is also not Luffy-fest

      • Bobby Jennings

        To each his own.

  • Monterossa

I hope it will be less puzzles and more fighting.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

PW2 removed all those puzzle and become typical traditional musou

      • Monterossa

Great!! I own both games but never touched the second one cuz the first game bored me to death with those puzzles.

        • Warboss Aohd

2nd one even had it’s own unique story.

  • Princess_Eevee9

More One Piece is always good.

  • Ramón Navas

I dont even watch One Piece and i’m hype as hell

  • Cephrien

The scan seems to imply that it might go through the story from beginning to the current arc in much more detail than the first one did. As far as playable characters go, I suspect the villains so far after the time-skip will be included (Hody Jones, Caeser Clown, Doflamingo, maybe even Z ). I’m guessing to bulk up the roster even more, they might even include some of the gladiator characters from the Dressrosa arc (perhaps we’ll be able to finally play as Bellamy!)

    • Ciaran Doherty

For the roster, I want the following, ahem:
      Gan Fall.
      Eustass Kid.
      Scratchmen Apoo.
      Basil Hawkins.
to all be playable characters :].

  • Thatguy

    Wait, ALREADY? That was… fast.

Well, i missed all PW games. Gonna play it on PS4

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

      that’s Koei for you

    • DaiRaiOh

Not really fast. 2 years between releases is pretty normal

  • P4ine

at least there are still some developers and publishers left that haven’t forgotten about the vita. definitely getting this

  • Rawindra

Let’s hope Jump made their way enters Warriors Orochi series (if announced), not just One Piece, but also North Star Fist, Samurai X & Gintama

    • Hagaren

Gintama Musou game? Day 1! I need to kick some asses as Shiroyasha Gintoki.

      • Rawindra

& marry Sophitia or Pyrrha however, the ma’ don’t wanna: Never allow her daughter to marry a silver haired drunk jump loving idiot samurai like him, but they still be friends

  • Rayhan PromisedGallery
    • OrangeArmy

      Too OP, unplayable boss only.

  • Ciaran Doherty

    AWESOME!!!!!!!! :].

  • British_Otaku

More fond of the Ganbarion games from Unlimited Adventure/Cruise (a rounded adventure with lots of elements from the series reflected like fishing and bug catching) to Gigant Battle (challenge driven 2D brawlers like Smash Bros or Jump Superstars), but if they keep slacking with recent titles, I may jump onto this to get my fill of God Usopp.

A little disappointed that the Wii U is missing out on this one, but it is on every other system I would think has good odds to get it even if the Vita version doesn’t stand a chance for retail localization in all regions.

  • Kornelious

Huh, I recently picked up the first 2 at the PS Store sale not to long ago and they’re pretty fun….So I look forward to this! And hopefully it will get a physical release this time as well :)

  • subsamuel01

Hopefully they follow the anime/manga story line for the game, the non-canon story they created for the second game made no sense and was pretty confusing.

  • Learii

3?????? wow lol I hope more chars

  • Jordan Ortiz

But they’re still in Dressrossa, hopefully it gets released after the next arc starts.

    • Tousand

Dont worry. Oda said that the current arc will get to its climax within two months. (around a month ago) which will also reveal luffy’s “new technique”. So the game better comes up with that new technique. Haha

      • rax

Please link me to where you read that lol

Damn that must mean that Luffy won’t get to solo Mingo?!?! Since that’s like 4-5 chapters. ;-; oh well, there’s always Kaidou and Big Mom

  • Spirit Macardi

Great, can we finally get the Funimation cast this time?

    • DaiRaiOh

Considering so many characters that will be in this game haven’t been cast yet, probably not if we actually get it.

      • Warboss Aohd

then just hire a bunch of random people.

        • DaiRaiOh

Yeah that doesn’t work, pretty much at all. Gotta deal with unions, with location issues, and just wasting a whole bunch of money on something most fans don’t really care about.

        • Pinwheel

The VA industry is in absolutely no sense that easy. Especially when you hire people on for a voice cast that is supposed to represent the quality of the dubbed anime product, therefore reflecting on another company’s possible sales. It’s a rare but complicated occurrence.

  • Crimrui

The first one was fun, didn’t play the second one yet. Probably will at some point, same with this 3rd one. Currantly have Unlimited World Red to keep me occupied. :3

Now… I would really want a Fairy Tail on a PS3/Vita/PS4/Xbox360/XboxOne. With lot’s of side activites and quests. ˇˇ

    • Harvey Tejada Loto

We need this fairy tail warriors xD

  • Pdugna

Please Please Please let the story be like the first game in even more detail, if they ever make a game in full detail or each arc and story in One Piece leading up to current I will buy it in heartbeat. I flipping love this series so much that I’ve watched the series from start to beginning 20 times and read it 30.

    • TheSoullesOne

Amen to that brother/sister (I say both cause idk)

  • Kaitou21

Dude WTF i literally just bought OP: Pirate Warriors 2 yesterday and a third one has already been announced?

    • Pinwheel

It’s sort of a rule with popular and successfully selling anime games that – regardless of how much content is already covered – there will be a sequel within a year to two years. If you enjoy the series and always want more, be my guest. Personally isn’t my thing to shell out another $60 when the last one came out somewhat recently.

  • aizen310

    Meanwhile in Karakura Town….

    • NightzeroAX

      You have soul resurreccion.

      • Aspenharls

Soul Resurreccion was pretty lackluster IMO. After the series ends, it would be cool to have a better version of it, this time with Fullbrings, Quincies, and the myriad of characters that didn’t make it in to the first.

        • aizen310

I’d be content with a game containing the story from the very beginning until Aizen’s defeat. That story arc at least somewhat whole: Ichigo got powers > Ichigo makes friends > goes on a rescue mission > mission success > Ichigo loses powers.
But Soul Resurrección was soooooo uninspired that it was almost an insult to the fans. Look at the plethora of awesome Gundam, Saint Seiya, Hokuto no Ken, Naruto, One Piece and Dragon Ball Z games on PS3. Then look at our ONE poor, pitiful Bleach game :(

          • rax

You have my support buddy! A bleach game of this caliber or beyond would be awesome. Especially if there’s a versus mode XD

          • aizen310

That’s anonther thing that bugged me in B:SR… the lack of 2P content. You make a game about sword wielding soul samurais and you miss the opportunity of a duel mode. Shame. :/

          • rax

Same for Pirate Warriors. I like the hack n slash style, but that gets repetitive. Versus mode adds a whole new aspect! Did you hear that Kojima wants to make a OP fighting game? Hopefully other series follow.

          • aizen310

            Kojima makes everything nowadays lol

    • SetzerGabbiani

If there’s one anime series that’s asking for a massive Warriors spinoff, it’s Bleach.

    • Harvey Tejada Loto

lol poor Ichigo and we need Bleach Soul Warriors

  • Just imported 1 & 2 from Europe last month because I wanted physical copies and I just finished both of them so this is great news!!
I really enjoyed the second one because of all the character choices and move sets. The first one was really good too!

  • artemisthemp

One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 coming to PS4 makes me so happy :)

  • Sol badass

So I guess we’re never gonna get a one piece fighting game huh? I mean, I am happy that one piece is coming to ps4 and quite soon too, but I just wanna be able to oick one of my favorites and beat the shxt out of blackbeard specifically since I hate his fatass. Is that too much to ask?

  • TheSoullesOne

Shanks damn well better be playable this time around

  • OrangeArmy

OP Warriors 2 is my favorite Warriors game ever (followed by Orochi 3 and SW 4), so you can bet your sweet ass I’ll be chucking my debit card at the screen when it comes out…since I assume it will be DL-only again….still buying though.

  • Annnnnd this is why I bought a PS4… Wooooo!!!

  • Warboss Aohd

if there was ever a reason to make Warriors Orochi 4, these games are the reason.

  • Hagaren

Playable Doflamingo, Bartolomeo, Rob Lucci and Eustass Kid, please!

  • Baka-Juice

i hope this’ll have a us vita release this time around

  • Tousand

Yes. Instant preorder for the vita. Whether the us release will come or not i will buy both.

    • rax

What if it has free cross play? I don’t have a vita.. but it’s finally getting to be the time to own one.

  • Göran Isacson

Hah, expected considering the sales of it so far. Feeling glad I haven’t bought any of the games so far, might check this one out when it drops… also, one wonders if they’ll sell this for Steam, considering they’re experimenting with dropping the Dynasty Warriors games there now.

Cool, North America? no? Not Surprised.

  • David Gromer

This will PROBABLY come to the States. Both of the other Pirate Warriors games did, so I have faith. After all, neither Koei nor Bandai Namco are anything like Capcom. They actually pay attention to what their fans want, market their games well, and then they deliver.
