Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Takes Place On A Much Larger Stage Than The First Game

By Sato . September 3, 2014 . 6:00pm

Capcom officially announced Resident Evil: Revelations 2, which will be developed by the core staff from the previous game. Series producer Machisaka Kawata and director Yasuhiro Anba talked more about the game in an interview in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.

Several people shown in the trailer appeared to have some sort of bracelet or wrist device, that started out with green lights when things were calm but started turning red along with an ominous mood.

“It’s the most important key item,” says Kawata. “It will also become a key part of the game’s story.”

“While putting together content for the trailer, I’d normally say ‘huh, but this is a spoiler!’ and stop it, but this time, I decided to bear with it and give it out as a big service,” adds Anba with a laugh.

Famitsu notes that it looks like we’ll have to re-watch the trailer to get more hints on what’s going on. They also ask what’s with the little girl who appears to be pointing at something or someone at the end of the trailer.

“You’ve pointed out a part that’s difficult for us to talk about right now,” responds Kawata with a laugh. “Personally speaking, that’s an image that I really like, and I’ll leave it at that for now.”

He continues,”the concept teaser trailer not only contains mysteries for Resident Evil: Revelations 2, but also pays an homage to the series. Please have fun thinking about different possibilities.”

The above image is a look at the creepy island that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will take place.

“The first Resident Evil takes place in a mansion, and with Revelations taking place on a cruise liner, so you have many stages that were set in closed locations, but Revelations 2 will take place on a lonely island located somewhere in the distant sea. We’d like to make it into something we can call ‘Resident Evil Island’,” says Anba.

“The place is much wider than the cruise liner, so there’s plenty more we can set up than what we had in the previous game,” adds Kawata.

With the other image shown that depicts what appears to be some sort of jail, it looks like the island could be something similar to Alcatraz Island, but Kawata says that it’s not completely a prison island, and there will also be other facilities as well.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be released in early 2015 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

The good thing about Revelation is that they give back the classic horror for RE fan, however, i still miss finding keys or item to mix around to unlock the next door.

Just hope it eventually it will come to 3DS as well XD. Cant wait to play on PS3 too. HAHA

”the concept teaser trailer not only contains mysteries for Resident Evil: Revelations 2, but also pays an homage to the series. Please have fun thinking about different possibilities.”

I hope this means the gameplay will be just like RE: Revelations. I liked RE5(only newer RE game I played) but I was looking more gameplay like Revelations gave.

“While putting together content fort he trailer,” I believe you mean “While putting together content for the trailer,”
Anyways I look forward to seeing gameplay trailers.

  • Espoir

    Why no 3DS? :(

    • Rinne111

      my point exactly:(:(

    • Godmars

Better hardware. The first one started on the 3DS, then were ported to systems with better, more powerful hardware.

      • Juan Andrés Valencia

The New 3DS can probably work for RE Revelations 2. Unless it’s that much of a system hog.

        • Godmars

Why do people think that handhelds can do whatever a console can, just like some thing a console can do anything a PC can.

And then there’s the PC crowd who expect a high end rig to run laps around specific console titles.

Regardless, the new 3DS is only better or as good as a Wii.

        • Ben Green

The New 3DS is not even on wii levels, judging by how awful the xenoblade trailer looked, let alone ps360. If a vita version is not being made, a 3ds version is impossible.

          • Aaron K Stone

Awful? Granted the original was rough around the edges, but being displayed on a 3DS screen it’s no wonder it doesn’t look as good. Though it has to display the game in 3D something which the Wii version didn’t have to worry about.

    • FreeLancers

You should say “Why no WiiU? :(

  • César H. Sandoval

Maybe you’ll have to check the bracelet for signs of infection during gameplay, that could be cool.

  • Tarkovsky

Claire, Barry and Rachael Foley very likely to be in this game based on the trailer.

    • HerosLight

That is what people have been speculating so far, Rachael probably hints that the game takes place before the first Revelations.

This is “supposedly” Barry and Rebecca from the trailer.

      • Tarkovsky

That lady is dressed in such a Claire-esque way that I’m pretty sure it’s her. Then again I don’t spot a ponytail so I could be totally wrong haha. One thing’s for sure, that dude is definitely Barry haha

  • Elfaia

And again, where the heck is rebecca chambers?

    • Rohan Viajar

      I seriously want her back.
or at least give us a statement on what she is doing now.

      • Arcueid Brunstud

        me too :(

      • Ali

I like the fact that they’re off doing their own thing, like us normal folks :)

    • Arcueid Brunstud

      I know right T.T

    • Yaow

      She’s in the trailer.

Look in the background. Standing with a fellow that looks a lot like Barry Burton.

Also, Rachel the dumbest agent ever from the first revelations and what looks like Chris Redfield.

Pay attention to the people in the crowds before the Zombies. I take them as hints.

EDIT: oops. Looks like someone beat me to it. Good eye!

  • Valtiel Ikari

this news just gave my something good to go to sleep at the end of a crappy day. :D

  • Dave Cain

Loved amc’s TWD especially season 3. I am going to enjoy this alot. Hooray for walke… I mean zombies!!!!

  • Arcueid Brunstud

ooooh you have my attention Capcom. as a long time resident evil fan I was pissed about re4-re6 don’t argue please it was not true survival horror. like the other and I DONT MEAN TANK CONTROLS. ok. but this gives me at least some hope for the resident evil series. revelations was a step in the right direction I hope they go further.

  • Woto

Wait… an island? Maybe, could it be… Resident Evil Survivor island? :O

  • HerosLight

I’m curious to see the new characters and returning characters.

    TGS is near, thankfully.

  • dogmanx23

Can’t wait! I love Resident Evil. 5 and 6 took the passion out of me a little but replaying Zero and RE Remake on GC and just getting through Revelations recently, it’s winning me back.

  • Aaron K Stone

I hope this means they wont forget what made the original good.

  • lordsofskulls

Dark Souls + Resident Evil >.> PLEASE?

    • phayroent

That should be a new spin-off.

  • Let’s hope it isn’t even close to what 6 was and stick to what Revelations was.

  • fairysun

Zombie outbreak … in an island …. where have I ….

    • Arcueid Brunstud

      ugh no thank you

  • When will we will get some game play? Since it releases Early 2015 surely some game play will hit very soon right?

  • Michael Cardwell

Hope this game has a lot better graphics than 1st one did….

    • TheDarkEmpress

You do know the first one on consoles was a port from the DS, right…?

  • Happy Gamer

Whoever is in charge of the revelations line is doing a fairly good job vs the main numbered games. Not the most original premise, but he definitely understands the original game’s atmosphere, mood etc. I am kind of glad he had “limited” hardware to work on vs. triple A budget. I think it made hi churn out something different. That being said, 3DS resident evil looks amazing.

  • Göran Isacson

An isolated island looks a bit smaller than what the trailer made me think… but on the other hand, “small” seemed to work well enough for Revelations. Wonder if this series will up the action with the increased processing power, or if it will remain a bit more lowkey…
