Hatoful Boyfriend Flocks To PS4 And Vita Next Year

By Spencer . November 24, 2014 . 12:25pm

Hatoful Boyfriend is a clever parody of Japanese dating sims with birds to romance instead of people. You play as the only human in the school, talk to punk pigeons, and fall in love with feathered friends. If you haven’t heard about Hatoful Boyfriend check out our impressions here.

Devolver Digital has been working with Hato Moa and they brought Hatoful Boyfriend to Steam earlier this year. Next year, Devolver Digital will bring Hatoful Boyfriend to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in the second quarter of 2015.

Day 1 purchase. I hope 鳩先輩 notices me…

  • Would people say this is a coo(l) game?

  • JeySigma

this game is the TRUE definition of next-gen.
PS3 and 360 cant even handle this level of intensity

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Bird STD must be painfull

  • Keiji Johnson

Well… This is certainly unexpected. O_O

  • Can’t wait for this!

  • James Reilly

Is the game actually good on its own merits or is it just known for being that VN parody with birds being the gimmick?

    • Pinkemon

It lures you in with the goofy premise but it does have hidden depths to it. The main romance routes set up the characters and then once you’ve completed their routes you can play the alternate storyline which takes everything you know and takes it in a really cool direction. I’m being vague on purpose cause it really is something you should see for yourself.

From what my friends say, they went in expecting it to be a complete joke, but left with feels.

    • mckun

It’s a pretty good game. I can’t spoil but it’s on my top list for a reason despite ‘dating birds.’

  • Robert Kupper

While the game had a surprising amount of depth to it, the goofy premise has worn thin on me over time and I am just kind of waiting for people to stop talking about it so much. Good luck to them, hopefully it reaches a new audience, but I hope I don’t have to hear about it and how wacky it is for another year as a result.

  • Beetle

wow….I can’t believe this is actually getting to consoles..

  • Junko Enoshima

    This is iconic

  • mckun

I’m glad that such an indie game is getting coverage.

  • Ren Yuumei

    Can’t stop laughing…send help!

  • notentirelythere

Something kept me from getting this on Steam, even when it was on
crazy sales. MY BODY KNEW I could play this on Vita in the near future. I

lol maybe I should reconsider my orientation.

    • Aristides

Well you are are a fish, so perhaps going for birds might be a good idea. You’d be higher up the food chain but you seriously need a good doctor to get this done.

      • sakanaとkoeda

Professor Farnsworth sends his regards :)

  • Trophy support hell yes!!!

  • DyLaN

Did not saw that coming XD This is like, the first localized VN port for the PS4. The only other VN where we get most of their console ports is Hakuoki IIRC.

  • DS23

Sony’s pretty serious about getting cool/weird indies on their machines. Seems fitting to me since the PSX days were full of cool weird experimental games much like the contemporary indie scene…

  • chronocide

I got excited for this… and then it made me realize that all the games I want/have for the Vita are ports.

    Which kinda surprised me.
    Still hyped!

  • Well, this is something to tweet about.
    (Sorry… I couldn’t help it)

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Oh wow, this is an actual thing and not an injoke………..

  • Tom

Is it coming to the west as well? I might buy it just for the laughs :)

  • The concept is weird, but I’ll buy it.
Gotta support what few otomes we get…

  • Maria Francisca Mena

I started playing this game as a joke, but it’s a pretty good visual novel (also very funny). I already own in steam so i don’t know if I would buy it for Vita really. But if you haven’t played and you like VN, maybe you should buy it
