By Sato . December 16, 2014 . 1:38am

blazblue_141216 In a little preview snippet for this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, it’s been revealed that BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend has been announced for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

As far as new content in the inevitable Extend version of the game goes, console players will get to play as Celica Ayatsuki Mercury and Lambda-11, two characters that were added to the arcade version of the game in its 2.0 update.

Famitsu also shared that the game will have some additional story elements for the game as well.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

I hope it’s an updated version of 2.0 i.e. balance changes etc.

  • Hououin91

    Nice, Xbox version!

    • Stephen Mc Devitt

I actually completely forgot that CP was a PS3-exclusive.

  • EtherealEarth

OMG, I almost buy the PSV version.
Glad I was so busy I didn’t have time. Now I will just wait for the ps3 version to come on sale XD

    • Hagaren

I didn’t buy the PS3 version either, precisely because I was sure they’d release an Extend again. Glad I waited!

      • Kamakuma

Heh still didn’t even open my LE and probably dun plan on it. xD I’ll probably get Extend and sell the LE later down the road. >> <<

  • Saw this coming a mile away. Though I find it weird that there’s no X360 version of this!?

    • Hououin91

They dropped the 360 for this game (Chrono Phantasma was never released) saying “the dvd doesn’t have enough space”, well they are back to Xbox after having blu Ray, at least they are being consistent.

  • guest131925

Why don’t they release it on Steam? :sosad:

    • ET-Kubo

I know right? Maybe in 5 years.

On the bright side, since there’s a Xbox version now coming out, at least they might be a little more inclined to port it since apparently its easier to do Xbox->PC than PS->PC.

    • malaki7123 .

And I just bought two copies of Continuum Shift Extend on Steam! I’m really hoping CPE on Steam happens before they release another Blazblue, or else we’ll have another problem with console parity like with the original CT PC release.

  • Go2hell66

    oh ffs

  • Rodrigo Branco

Will it even come to Portugal this time around?
The game never had a physical release in Europe as far as I know and I was never abe to find it on the portugal PS Store :/

    • Guest

it had(physical release), the European publisher simply doesn’t publish in Portugal. Pretty sure I’ve seen this one in stores tho

Contrary to some nis america stuff, like personaQ. Or any niche vita/PS3 game.

      • sakiu

CP was not released physically in Europe, it wasn’t even released digitally in all EU countries, and they had the nerve to advertised it as “Coming to EU woohooo” half EU maybe…

Anyway, ASW is on my blacklist as we didn’t even get a simple explanation on why the game was not released everywhere…. probably metadata translations for the store but the publisher is too proud to confirm it I guess? Well I don’t care about BB anymore, CP was my last Japan import… If they do not want me to play their games, why should I go out of my way to buy them? -.-

    • ET-Kubo

      We can only pray.

  • Tonton Ramos

I wonder when are they gonna release the Final Blazblue game will it be like XRD to be 3D cel-shade like while cutting the roster to half or stick with sprites and add Konoe/Nine, Jubei, Saya etc.

    • Go2hell66

well they’ve already said they’d like to do a blazblue game with Xrd’s graphics. man i would pay any amount of money for that game.

      • EtherealEarth

And maybe wait for the extended version for the “true” ending XD

  • Rafael Martines

As I expected :D Hope there is some cross plafaform between PS4 and PS3 like Guilty Gear Xrd

  • refrain

There’ll be no extend version this time they said. Also, no Vita?

    • Go2hell66

vita version will come out a few months later with hot springs story dlc

  • s6_miller

It’s Arc System Works, did you expect anything different?

    • ArmoredBoar

      Another subtitle than Extend.
      Fucking dropped.

    • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

      I expect Crapcom

  • Duo Maxwell

And my PS3 arcade stick still can’t play on the PS4.

    • sakiu

Thats the reason I did not buy GG for PS4, and didn’t buy one on PS3 as well, you know? Just because…

I refuse to buy new AS damn it =x

  • tvrsteve

Can Europe get a retail release this time ffs?

    • Stephen Mc Devitt

And wait months and months? I’m doing no such thing this time after waiting SO long for Continuum Shift.

  • MrJechgo

    Called it! Totally called it!

On a more serious note, doe sthat even surprise people? ASW has been doing this for a while now.

  • AJ

    Fuck you Mori

    • Ni ~Algidus~

holy shit. that made my morning HAHAHA

  • Isuke-sama

I’m waiting for they to announce the last version of Chrono Phantasm then I’ll buy it.

  • Raoni Marques

Glad I didn’t get Chrono Phantasma yet. I’ll wait for the Ps4 version.

  • Veloze

I know I should’ve expected this but I’m still disappointed in ArcSys and myself.

    • heavymetalmixer

ASW didn’t say if the update for PS3 will be available or not, let’s hope it will be.

  • Jorge Tavani

    heh

  • aizen310

Umm… PC version? You know… for the sake of completion?

    • British_Otaku

At least, they have no excuse not to go for this release when they bring Chronophantasm to Steam. So far, we are only getting the definitive versions of each game release.

They aren’t likely to announce a PC release or Steam release in a Famitsu update anyway.

      • aizen310

I wish it will come eventually. Not gonna expect it to be soon, but… eventually? Please, be excited?-oh-wrong-company

  • Death Metal

I really fucking hate Arc sometimes. I was honestly certain that they weren’t going to pull this shit with Chronophantasma.

    • James Reilly

Wow you were quite optimistic given their history lol

  • Herok♞

At the very least this Extend edition is coming out for the new systems, so I can’t complain this time. Since it seems like every recent fighter has editions for the Current systems. Off the top of my head I know Skullgirls, SF, DoA, Injustice, Gulity Gear and Mortal Kombat. So even if they said there wouldn’t be an extend edition this time it would be crazy to not think they would bring it to the Current gen with all the stuff they had released.

  • Stephen Mc Devitt

I knew it, I knew it. Likely will include Kokonoe and Terumi from the start as well. Perhaps I’ll import this one like with the original Calamity Trigger for PS3, mostly because CP came to Europe digital-only and I ain’t holding my breath.

I imagine Guilty Gear Xrd will go through the same thing with a new version featuring-

    SPOILER ALERT!

-DIzzy after seeing a screenshot of the story mode in tumblr after reading one of her new tropes being “The Bus Came Back.”

  • koksuckaahh

    I should have waited dammit.

  • Hexodious

I got mine for the Vita, so no loss for me.

    • vault2049

Don’t worry, there will be an announcement about a CP Extend Plus for the Vita in some months, as we all know.

      • Hexodious

I’m getting Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Guilty Gear Xrd for Christmas, I doubt i’d even care about the Extended version by then.

  • SiXXXtySiXXX

I was really disappointed when Chrono Phantasma skipped 360 after buying all the previous games on the platform, so I’ll definitely be grabbing this for Xbox One.

This has greatly increased my optimism for Guilty Gear Xrd on Xbox in the future as well.

    • I was so upset it skipped 360. Their reasoning for skipping 360 should have been be the same for XBO which makes me curious as to why this is happening. Ill be sure to get both PS4 and XBO just so I don’t miss anything in the future though . . .

      • SiXXXtySiXXX

The claimed to have skipped a 360 release due to storage issues with DVD, but since the Xbox One uses Blu-Ray there shouldn’t be any problems.

        • Ni ~Algidus~

that excuse was Mori bullshiting again. CP has 8 GB. ArcSys could make the game fit on a 360’s DVDs.

          • NeoStrayCat

Well, if its any more BS, even P4AU can fit on a 360 with half the GB that fit on the disc the PS3 ver would have, lol. (though at the cost of no lobby mode.)

          • Veryl7

Yep, It’s really telling when Siliconera even asked ArcSys and Aksys about it months ago and they tried to shove it on to each other. Pathetic PR. Soon after Mori says its disc space issues…lol.

P4 Ultimax is announced as PS3 exclusive in Japan, but gets a 360 port for NA. Same dev involved, so that was another slap in the face.

    • Once the game sells about 2 thousand copies in Japan, I don’t think we’ll see anymore games being released on that console. At least in that region. US might be a different story but I guess perhaps it just sells better on Sony consoles.

      • SiXXXtySiXXX

I couldn’t care less how the Xbox version does in Japan. As long as it’s viable for them to release it on Xbox in the west.

I’m a fan of BlazBlue and Guilty Gear but I won’t buy a PS4 for them.

        • Said the same thing with the Wii U mainly for Bayonetta 2 and I end up buying a Wii U just for it lol. If fighting games start ending up being more exclusive on the PS4, you’ll eventually going to get one.

          • SiXXXtySiXXX

I won’t say I’ll never get a PS4, but I’d like to avoid it for as long as possible. I bought every platform last gen and most of them ended up sitting there.

        • Don’t want be mean, but the Xbox controller is not one of the best ones for fighting-games… maybe that explains it.

          • Vesperion

That’s just a opinion, but not a fact. I mean i couldn’t imagine playing on a pad without using the d-pad, but my friend uses the analog.

The controller wouldn’t even have input on what gets ported anyway.

          • i use a ps2 controller to play fg . A xbox controller would be a nightmare to use !

            It to fat!

          • Vesperion

That’s all good too, but the same can be said for people that play on stick. A controller wouldn’t give all the advantages a stick has.

          • Fg are like this what ever you feel is best for you works best for you .

It’s not about what you use it about how comfortable your controller or stick feels to you .

I used all kinda stick but i went back to my ps2 pad and got my old skills back ! this is a exmaple most play this game on stick i play on pad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHNVD5cIhis&list=UUBJ–KnlNfaRHQOtY6kY4Vg

          • Vesperion

Maybe you missed the post where i talked about the xbox controller not being good for fighting games a opinion and not a fact?

          • Im responed to this pt .

. A controller wouldn’t give all the advantages a stick has.

    • Eder García

it’s possible, i feel ArcSys was sort of betrayed after that SF5 collaboration between Sony and Capcom was announced (500k tho), but as other comments says… BlazBlue CP will do terribly bad on the XBONE so don’t get your hopes up, that console is only for COD and Sports games

      • SiXXXtySiXXX

I really despise the mentality that Xbox is only about dudebro stuff, and the people who push that narrative are the reason I want nothing to do with PlayStation platforms.

I’ll be playing BlazBlue on Xbox One, just like I’ll be playing Dark Souls II, Devil May Cry, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, D4, The Phantom Pain, and Final Fantasy XV.

        • Veryl7

I feel the same way, the vitriol and hate Microsoft platforms get from communities like this is ridiculous. It can be borderline abusive, and that’s largely due to the PlayStation community. At the end of the day, I’d just like to be able to play these games as well. What’s wrong with that?

I’ll be getting a PS4 soon though (99% for Persona 5), there’s been countless times when even multiplat Japanese games have had features cut or excluded when ported for 360. It’s a shitty feeling to always feel 2nd class, and the community of 4 year olds doesen’t help that at all, it’s a mistake I’ll never make again. I really don’t care about this ego trip of console shaming, I’d just like to play games I like.

        • Eder García

i know how you feel, i am a Nintendo guy. but that’s the sad reality,, the sales speaks, not the quality of those wonderful Japanese games you mentioned (some of them are selling/will sell more on Playstation)

        • Joshelplex

MS themselves push that narrative. That’s specifically why Japanese games have been skipping the 360, because they outsell on PS3 by a huge Margin. The XBO launched an entire year later in Japan, and while the 360 at first appeared like ti was going to try and appeal to Japan, MS gave up on that about a year into the life cycle. If you are buying the XBO with the expectation of playing tons and tons of Japanese games, you are setting yourself up for dissapointment

          • SiXXXtySiXXX

Except I played a ton of Japanese games on my 360.

          • That’s not a lot

          • SiXXXtySiXXX

Well, I don’t like JRPGs if that counts for anything.

        • Slayven19

Blame microsoft as they push that as well. I mean they tried to be different with 360 by pushing japanese games but that didn’t really work.

          • SiXXXtySiXXX

Pushing that jock mentality so hard they are bringing back Phantom Dust while funding games from Swery and Kamiya.

      • TheBlackRabbit

how does this betray them? that is a whole other deal that has nothing to do with them. Wait is it because they feel they deserved something similar?

        • Eder García

after all the love ArcSys gave to Sony… i say yes

  • PowerSerg

    excited for more ps3 support.

  • Some are surprised by this? It’s going to continue and the same goes for the new GG. People point and laugh at Capcom, Arc is as guilty as them and same goes for Dead or Alive now. I guess it’s more less money consuming to release these little updates than starting from the ground up but then again, this has been going on since SF2 so nothing new here. I usually get them day one and once a new one is announced, I just trade in the old one unless I’m a huge fan of it then I’ll keep it.

  • Hasette

waiting for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Extend

  • Arcliff7

I EXPECTED THIS. Good thing I didn’t get the normal version.

  • Rizard13

I knew this will happen. Oh well, nothing to be surprised about actually, all fighting games do this nowadays.

  • blembot4000

glad to know at least the next blazblue entry has a good chance of coming out on the xboxone

  • Yan Zhao

Well, we all saw this coming. Cant even be mad at this point lol

  • vault2049

Surprised they went right on with the Extend. Normally they would go with CP 2. Hopefully they will release this one and move on. I have CP on Japanese. I don’t know if I will be buying Extend; with Xrd releasing today? I will probably wait till the next BlazBlue.

    • British_Otaku

Just like Ultimate for Dead or Alive, it might not be the final release for the game just because it is using a familiar term. I think they used CS2 as it represented a midpoint portable port which didn’t add too much story even if it included some DLC characters.

  • Ni ~Algidus~

Now let’s wait for GG Xrd #Reload Accent Core+R with Baiken

    • Eder García

      only on WiiU

      • Ni ~Algidus~

featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series

        • Pinwheel

          & Knuckles

  • ER_Mac3

I’m just SO GLAD. Thank you Aksys, really, if I lost the third chapter I’d be forever in regret. Now waiting to put up a show with those Amane soul spirals lol

    • NeoStrayCat

Um, Aksys didn’t announce this…yet, this is just for the JP release for now.

  • Linkmstr

    No love for Vita…

    • ODDEfault

We should see an update for this or paid dlc, hopefully

  • This version looks soooo unbalance

    • TheBlackRabbit

      explain?

      • koko is back and so are a lot of others

        • TheBlackRabbit

wait….what. she isn’t at ffull power…..right? i gotta see these changes.
they feel more like nerfs…cause she cangtspam her graviton and her teleport is punishable…

        • dubaloseven

Dude koko puffs got nerfed to hell.

  • RagingTiger44

Saw it coming from a mile away. But what about the vita?!

    • NeoStrayCat

      In due time, I guess…

  • ineedgames

Is this Japan or English? it doesn’t say.

    • NeoStrayCat

Seems to be JP for now.

  • Lionalliance

But why bother for the Xbox One version in japan?

    • NeoStrayCat

      Why not? >_>

    • James Reilly

I imagine some Western players will be pleased with this that stuck with Blazblue since CT on Xbox.

      • dubaloseven

“Some” is the overstatement of the century. They’re such a tiny fraction of the playerbase I’m still surprised they bothered.

  • Shippoyasha

I don’t see how this is surprising when they do these major arcade updates. Maybe they can do the DLC update model like SF4, but they change too many things including announcer, character art, gameplay balance, new openings and new stories this way. It’s not a bad thing they update their game like this IMO. They also tend to be pretty great price wise. Chrono Phantasma is already at $30 in most stores.

    • British_Otaku

I’m not a SF4 player but surely the jump between SSF4 and USF4 is a lot bigger than a jump like CS to CSE or CP to CPE. Right?

I agree it isn’t surprising, but it still isn’t particularly fair to consumers who expect their purchases to last.

      • James Reilly

SSF4 to USF4 is like 2.5 versions apart so yeah a bigger jump. You could still upgrade though from SSFIV to Arcade/Ultra via cheaper dlc then having to buy an enture separate game.

        • British_Otaku

That’s my point, it is possible to jump 2.5 versions without buying a separate disc. I won’t compliment Capcom’s policy last generation more than that, but it is pretty incredible that they did that yet we need to buy a new BlazBlue on a disc separately to get the more moderate bonuses.

It applies to SSF43D as well, but the frequent updates without downloadable alternatives tend to leave the portable versions stranded without ever having a chance to get all of the content as well.

      • Shippoyasha

I think the difference is equatable actually. The core balancing is completely different between Blazblue versions.

        • British_Otaku

As a Makoto player, I can tell that the balance changes completely between versions but it doesn’t seem significant enough that they couldn’t let players use the DLC update model (which reaches through all of those SF4 versions I mentioned).

USF4 allows us to even play as the original SF4 versions of characters among others. It would be cool to see them not only take on the model but like my CS2 Makoto fight some of these new guys.

          • Shippoyasha

Yeah. Some of the revisions are really frustrating in Blazblue that way. One game they’re badasses and the next, they struggle to win matches. I just hope everyone is strong in this version.

  • James Reilly

    1. Holy shit this updated CP is actually going back to Microsoft with the Xbox One. Guess Sony decided not to moneyhat Blazblue since the whole reason the original CP skipped Xbox was apparently shortage of disc space and they didn’t want to do two discs.

    2. Rip Vita version

    3. “Additional story elements” probably gonna be the Vita stuff ported abd maybe some extra scenes for the new characters.

    4. The DLC will still be overpriced shit like $50 for announcer voices when that could have easily been included.

    5. I want to see an updated Persona Ultimax on PS4/Xbox One now.

    • dubaloseven

Blazblue was not moneyhatted. ArcSys fighters don’t even release on Xbox in Japan and sell absolute ass on Xbox here in the states. I guess they’re trying to tap that market one more time with the new console since next gen is dying for games.

Also didn’t ArcSys say Ultimax was the final installment of P4A.

      • Mike Pureka

Actually, apparently roughly 1/3rd of CS’s sales in the US were 360.

        • dubaloseven

versus 2/3’s on xbox, also consider CT and CSE sales

  • nick_54g

im done, im fucking done. this is officially the last nail in the coffin for me i quit.

    • British_Otaku

You could join some of us and just never buy their first installment of any fighting game. *Shrugs*

I’ve taken the policy to the next level and only buy fighters when the full sequel is on the way or a proven record of never doing any remakes is present. Of course, it means a lot of waiting in the case of mainstream fighters not called Tekken.

      • nick_54g

this just makes me mad cuz this could hav easily been a patch or something. mori even said they werent gonna do this and yet we get lied too.

        • British_Otaku

Yep. I heard that Mori said that they weren’t going to do any DLC characters either, but as soon as I heard about Kokonoe (probably the most anticipated character since the series started) and Yuki Terumi. That was two red lights.

I wish we could trust developers and such, but all we can do is be vigilant and support games which don’t break promises so blatantly. :/

          • nick_54g

            yeah.

          • Astrotrain

Mori said he didn`t want download characters and that he wanted everything on the disc, and yes the fucking DLCs are locked in the disc and that’s BS. (he never said there wasn’t going to be an upgrade of the game). But it`s even more BS that the people never complained about that the same way they complained when Capcom did it. I’m very disappointed with the community. I thought we all were on the same page about locked DLC after the SFXT fiasco.

      • Tyler Beale

How can I score those Limited Editions if I don’t buy their first installments?

        • British_Otaku

A decent question, some of the limited editions at least for the Japanese releases are really good not that I have enough of a taste for fighters to chase em.

I guess one thing I do is buy limited editions and first print goodies (usually when I don’t have the time or funds to buy it initially) from resellers later down the line, but it may cost more to acquire then.

It is up to you to weigh whether it is worth your money, but at least if you wait, you will know whether the next limited edition completely replaces the need for the first one or whatever.

          • Tyler Beale

I actually bought the CP LE knowing that it was also coming to Vita, my platform of choice. So what I did was, I bought the LE, played though the story on PS3, and traded it not long after (though I was hoping there would be a cross-save feature) towards the digital Vita ver. I like BlazBlue’s characters and art enough to start getting these LEs, but since CS EX Vita was my first (it was $12 on PSN one time) BB…of course CP was the only game whose LE I was able to get (I prefer digital copies of games I buy on PS platforms, unless there’s a LE/CE involved)

Hell, I even picked up the GGXrd LE (at the peril of having to wait a week).

A LE might be the only way to get me to buy the new updated version of CP, though I’d still rather have it as a patch to the Vita version.

          • British_Otaku

I’m not a fan of trading in games, so that never really came up as an option to me especially if the LE and the goodies are tied together.

So far my record is that I bought CS2 European 3DS version and a digital release of CS2 Japanese 3DS version. I may go back and get the first print and limited edition goodies at some point, but I’m waiting to see what is worth buying (plus I don’t have a Vita, I would rather play it on a portable like the 3DS).

Makoto’s PVC figure isn’t part of that but it was worth buying.

Remember Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate.
Just when you think, it will be the last, they come out with Last Round. “Last Round”, huh? We’ll see.

        • British_Otaku

Yep, it is only the “Last Round” when I see Dead or Alive 6 on the shelves… Then who knows, maybe the industry will go even further with a Dead or Alive 5 Sudden Death Edition.

The closest we have to this is things like Street Fighter 3 Third Strike on PSN and Xbox Live over a decade later which isn’t really offensive at all.

      • mikanko

Or you could just get the first version and leave it at that. The constant updates are for people who want to play the game continuously. If you didn’t buy CP it means you’ll have missed out on a year and half of playing the latest version of the game available on console.

Granted, if you’re ASW’s primary audience you’ll have been playing this version of BB in arcades already. Their sticking point really seems to be that outside of this audience, console players and those outside Japan are an afterthought.

Devil’s advocate point being, these updates aren’t for people who are happy with playing the game a few times, and then putting it down.

        • British_Otaku

My problem with modern day first installments is that they rarely invite players to support the company by downloading the update as DLC and the second installment only adds to the original experience.

I’ll play the game for an extended amount of time if I like the game, but I can’t be expected to rush to buy an expansion full price or 2/3rds of full price.

Capcom seemed to handle these updates well with SF4 and Namco did the same with Tekken without asking the player base to buy a game twice.

          • mikanko

Generally speaking Japanese publishers don’t see digital content as reliable there because of poor sales in the past. It’s something that’s changing, but not as fast as we’d like. Probably much slower for a small developer/publisher like ASW who doesn’t publish their own games outside of Japan, unlike Namco, Capcom etc.

It’s the same reason the only PC releases for ASW games are by a third party who bought license rights for the older versions on the cheap. PC gaming almost doesn’t exist in Japan outside of doujin/visual novel scene, and Japan is all ASW cares about.

          • British_Otaku

Judging from how rereleases of fighting games tend to get lower sales, it still seems like a good idea to make sure people who don’t feel like buying another retail release for a high price: http://www.siliconera.com/2012/08/01/persona-4-arena-opening-week-sales-outsell-street-fighter-and-blazblue/

I don’t think the systems have any rereleases for comparison, but I expect numbers in the 20K-30K range at best for any of the platforms. It isn’t too common but it would be wiser to do so.

Spike Chunsoft are fairly small and have the option for their Attack on Titan 3DS rerelease.

          • mikanko

I have a feeling as far as ASW is concerned they’ve made more money off the retail disc updates than they did the one time they did a patch with dlc characters for CS2. Regardless I’m guessing there’s far more outcry for patched updates outside Japan than within.

          • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

Capcom handled SF4 in such a piss-poor manner that I can’t help but wonder if they paid you to say that. Re-used assets from another game included as ‘new content,’ lots of clones, making four versions of the same game and charging full price, all while insisting ‘we’re done making new versions for real this time.’

            You’re right about Tekken though.

      • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

Sometimes people buy the first installment because, and this may seriously surprise you, they love the series? Maybe want to see the new story stuff that a lot of people actually care about, or just play the game as soon as possible? And perhaps even support the company so they can keep going with the series?

Seriously, ASW releases a new updated version of a game with significant changes and everybody proceeds to bitch, and yet some companies can get away with rehashing the same FPS game every year with minimal difference and nobody blinks. I hate you all.

    • Astrotrain

You must be new around here.

      • nick_54g

ive been playing BB for a long time now. the only big re-release was CSEX CS2 was a fucking patch why can BBCP2 be a damn patch dammit mori why!

        • Astrotrain

Then why are you complaining? You should know that this is how ASW operate and that they don’t do the paid upgrade like Capcom. Do you know about BB Chrono Phantasma ver. 2.0 on arcade? Then you should’ve known that version of the game was going to be ported to consoles sooner or later.

          • Tyler Beale

His point is, why do those people get it as an update, while we have to pay $50 for 2 characters and “additional story elements” instead of a free patch or DLC like Continuum Shift 2 and similar to ULTIMATE MARVEL VS. CAPCPOM 3.

          • Astrotrain

I understand his point. My point is, why is he making so much fuzz? If he’s been playing BB for a long time, he should’ve seen this upgrade coming the instant BBCP ver 2.0 was released in arcades.

          • nick_54g

i had a hunch they were gonna do it but i figured it’ll be another CS2 but it seems they jumped right to extend. even though i hate capcom they could have pulled a digital upgrade i would have been fine but i guess i gotta shell out another $50 for something that could have been easily patched

  • Professor_Icepick

Totally knew there was gonna be an Extend version of this. Now port that sucker to PC, ASW!

  • Jiff

Would fans be satisfied if asw just dropped the ps3 release and made this exclusive to the ps4 & Xbone?

    • Mike Pureka

      No.

    • mikanko

Considering PS3 versions of games sell very comparable to the PS4 versions, and sometimes higher in Japan, no. More so when you consider BB is a very Japanese centric game where the market outside the country is often an afterthought.

If any of these platforms were to be dropped Xbox 3 makes the most sense, but it’s likely a case that it required virtually no porting cost and they’ll take the gamble.

  • Tyler Beale

    Whyyy….did….ASW…have…to..pull a Capcom???

Not to mention, my platform of choice (the PS Vita) also had the game, yet it isn’t on that list…..Dammit.

    • ASW has pulled a Capcom multiple times already. Nearly every Guilty Gear game has had a re-release and BlazBlue Continuum Shift also had a re-release

      • Tyler Beale

The Guilty Gear games, I can understand why they did that because a new disc was the ONLY way to “patch” the game or add content, as DLC didn’t exist on PS2.

That said, when I said “pull a Capcom”, I’m mostly referring to UMvC3 because they didn’t put the Ultimate-exclusive content as DLC, neither did they really put out any patches to the original game AFAIK. Of course my first BlazBlue game was CSE on Vita so complaints from me were nonexistant. I was thinking that would be the only time they’d do something like that, and I guess I was wrong.

Oh, and IMO, it being on newer consoles doesn’t really sound like an excuse if you’ve already played CP to hell and back. But hey, at least Xboners actually have a new fighting game that isn’t KI to look forward to, right?

    • MasterScrub

ASW did not pull a Capcom, ASW pulled an ASW. They do WAY more scumbag stuff than Capcom does.

    • Ni ~Algidus~

ArcSys have been doing worse than capcom lately. Ultra only cost me $15 since i could upgrade from Super

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

If you people really think what ASW does is similar to Capcom, then you’re all pretty stupid. Capcom has done much scummier things, and everybody knew this was going to happen with CP anyways. Quit acting surprised; you should know what you’re getting into with a series. If you truly love and support it, then you’ll get it. Otherwise, get lost and go play another series.

  • zeroroute

Ehh, thinking of skipping this, kinda burnt out on BB

  • So… people on Xbox 360 got boned last time… but now you’re making it for the Xbox One? Makes no sense. Don’t make it for a good console… but make it for the shittiest console of all time? WAT?

    • British_Otaku

Please. The Xbox One is far from deserving of that title, nor do I care to clarify what I think is the worst console. It is a bit strange for them to support it despite the install base being smaller than ever in Japan (I expect this to be them gauging them the base) but the system and the audience deserve the game as much as any other.

If you want it for a “good console”, the PS3 and PS4 have your back.

      • Not sure what you mean by PS3 being good… far from turd burger Xbox One material… but not very close to being considered good. PS4 does have my back… but I was disappointed that ASW boned the Xbox 360 fanbase with the last release.

        • British_Otaku

Well as far as all of the systems go, they offer a digital storefront full of games and let you play a borrowed or second hand game.

Whatever difference makes you like the Xbox 360 but not so much the Xbox One (and presumably the PS3). I don’t see it.

      • Loghorn

        I agree.

I don’t even know WHY Arc System Works keeps putting their games on Xbox consoles anyway, considering that most of their games sell like garbage in comparison to Playstation consoles.

    • Chef Chef

Mori clarified why BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will not be released on Xbox 360 like other installments, “If the Xbox 360 could increase its storage space by double then we could bring it there. Chrono Phantasma doesn’t fit on the disc. Basically, if you were to fit it on a disc you would have to compress it and the quality will go down and I was concerned that it would be an inferior version.

  • Josef217

omg, I’m suppose to pick my guilty gear xrd copy today but after reading this shit, fuck it. Arc systems is the new capcom, I think I’ll wait for the Guilty Gear Xrd Esuka -.- assholes. I’m going to cancel my guilty gear copy and put it for something else….

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

If you’re really going to compare ArcSys to Capcom, you’re a bloody idiot. Please do cancel your copy of GG and BB; I don’t want somebody like yourself sharing the same online game space with me.

  • Keko

    It’s okay. It’s not like I bought the Limited Edition with the Nendo just a few months ago. Nope. I totally didn’t ;_;

  • im done. skipping this.

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

Good, we didn’t want you anyways.

  • Anontastic

OF COURSE. Once again glad I waited.

So only the extra arcade characters will come on-disc? People who bought the other characters will have to buy them again?

And I thought Bamco did some lousy stuff with DLC…

    • I’m sure the DLC character’s from the original CP will be included. The Extend version of Continuum Shift had all the previous DLC characters on-disc after all

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

If you really liked the series, you would have supported the company and bought the first game. Also, you clearly know nothing about how ArcSys does DLC and other things similarly; nobody will have to re-buy anything.

      • Anontastic

How high are you pushing your glasses right now? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)‎

  • Kornelious

Damn it ASW, ou pulled another Capcom!………Oh but who am i kidding, I’m gonna be one of the first people to get this >_<

I'm just glad it's being ported to PS4 (Like everything else lately) So that's enough of a reason for me to triple dip :P (There was the Vita version as well)

  • Blesmi

I think it’s funny all these people are complaining about CPE when the fact is, the game is dead. It’s so mundane that most people in japan stopped playing it, hell even the BBCP EVO Champ dropped CPE.

    • Cellsai

Haha. Dead. Yes. I will try to remember how dead it is next time I’m trying to squeeze my way through all the people lined up to play it in Akihabara next time I head in.

    • omoiukabu

yea i find it hard to believe it is dead in Japan. Though last I went was a year ago (Nanba)

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

It’ll pick up again after this version. The problem is a bunch of new games got released as CP grew stale and the new updates have been spaced out. CPE will rejuvenate it; anybody who thinks otherwise is delusional

  • Bell

Well, it all depends on the story additions for me. If Extend can find a way to rekindle my interest in Blazblue’s lore, I’m sold. Preferably, it would relate to Noel in some way, but I’m not picky.

  • Mind0105A

Well, this might gives signs that GGXRD will have another version later and they might add SP/EX modes. Regarding BBCPE, I think they should have added Jubie.

    • Cellsai

GGXrd *might* have another version later?

      MIGHT?

This is ArcSys we’re talking about. I’m shocked there isn’t another version already.

      • Mind0105A

Sorry. I guess I should say “MUST” have. You are right.

  • Guest

    uguuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • omoiukabu

I don’t see why people haven’t caught on? At least the pattern is predictable enough… unlike DOA5. Anyways, I’ll be getting this. Only BB games I’ve bought so far are BBCT and BB:CSE. Patience is key :)

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

This has to be one of the stupidest posts I’ve seen on this site. People buy the original version because they love the series and want to support the creators, ensuring the series’s survival and continued growth. Also, some people want to get the next installment of the story as soon as possible, or simply buy it because they love the series and want to play new versions ASAP. People who don’t mind continuing to support the company because of their love for the series, etc. Someone like yourself is not part of BlazBlue’s demographic.

      • omoiukabu

I didn’t make any negative remarks on early buyers or question why they bought earlier editions. Also, look up the word “demographic” in the dictionary to learn something new. :)

  • DemonicX

Meh, that truly sucks but I honestly don’t even care anymore. Even though I still like Chrono Phantasma, the gameplay is pretty much the only good thing about it and yet honestly, I’m still kind of tired of it. I’ll be ignoring these quick cash grabs they’re pulling, and just wait for the sequel to Chrono Phantasma.

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

This is far from a quick cash grab; it’s a legitimate update for dedicated players and fans of the series, and is significantly better than what Street Fighter has been doing. Also not surprising given that Extend did it.

  • Chef Chef

yyyyyep!……still buying it……can i have that library mode or whatever too?

  • Swinny UK

So I’ll be able to buy the additional content from the PS Store, right?

  • BurnItWithFiraga!

Playstation 4 huh? I’d get it…but can I play using my fightstick for my ps3 on my ps4? Have yet to hear any more news about it. I’m getting GGXRD for ps4, but it would be nice if they updated the console to support ps3 controllers as well.

A next generation release is alright. But when your telling me I might have to buy another new fightstick for like $150-200, then that’s a little bit messed up to me. No one would really be into buying the ps4 version if they have to spend all that extra cash…

  • Slash the stampede

…. and this why I stopped buying the first versions of the series. the extend editions always sound better and worth the wait :)

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

You’re not the kind of person this game series needs.

      • Slash the stampede

well too bad I’m the kind of person this series has :)

        • British_Otaku

I would have went for “I’m the kind of person, the series deserves”, but your post works too. :P

  • Antonio Potter

‘Hardcore’ fans of the franchise will either buy the latest release or promote discussions on their choice of forums. I’m more of a casual gamer nowadays and this (re)release reminds me I’ve been interested in this series since its first console iteration. So yeah, thumbs up to the company and all of you hardcore helping with publicity.

  • Aristides

Not for Vita? ;_; But why? Hrmmm well the Vita version has more stuff than the original PS3 version… @[email protected] how does this all mash together?

  • Mundus

Xrd’s netcode is shit, lets hope that making this cross platform, wont bring down the quality of the netcode to Xrd level. Since if its one thing thats good about BB its that the netcode is always excellent.

  • Nisx

lol, yet no 360 version :P
bcuz they dont want to spend another dvd disc for the game –
    lame excuse.

    • RP Disqus Accounts are stupid

It’s a legitimate excuse and you are a whiny child.

      • Nisx

        well thats your opinion then,
i dont think its a legitimate excuse,
if that really been the Issue here they could just
release it as a digital version for the 360 over xbox live.

and there is so many other options they could pick
like release the game with a installiton disc and the missing
content will download by the player from Live to the HDD.
how about cutting parts of the game then optimze it
to a DVD disc will leave the missing parts as a ps3 exclusive……….

not that im a xbox fanboy or even care were this game released, i only think its a lame excuse.
