Lethis – Daring Discoverers sends players to various alien worlds, having them interact with the natives and wildlife as they search the planet for special artifacts. However, how they choose to deal with the locals may have drastic, quick consequences.
Players are able to choose from one of five different adventurers, from peg-legged swashbucklers to adventurous grandmothers, firing them off to varied alien worlds. There, they’ll have to learn the languages and customs of the beings who live there, trying to fit in with their culture and not cause any trouble as they comb the planet’s surface for special items.
Players will learn a great deal about the aliens, plant, and animal life on each planet through story interactions with them. These interactions will often require choices, and players should consider these carefully using what they know of the customs and behaviors on the planet. Offending or upsetting the beings that live on the planet with a poor choice will result in a dead adventurer, but luckily, the scientists back home have invented a cloning process to allow them to make another attempt with the same person.
This doesn’t mean that players are helpless on each planet. Some aliens will respond better to brute force, being cowed by the player’s strength. It’s up to the player to figure out how each planet works, storing that information in the capsule they used to get there so they can put it to use on other runs should their current adventurer perish.
