The Gardens Between is a puzzle game that follows Arina and Frendt, a pair of pals, across an array of garden islands, each filled with mysteries, surreal sights, and wordless moments of friendship.

The most recent trailer for The Gardens Between seeks to set the game’s relaxed, soothing tone, carrying players on a journey through the music and colorful visuals to give them a sense of what the game will be like. It also hints at the meaning each island will hold for itself, showing players the subtle ways the game intends to tell its story.

Players will follow these best friends across several different islands, each with its own odd properties, items, and objects to interact with. There, players will have to solve puzzles using their lantern and their simple actions, but will also be able to shift time backwards and forwards, allowing for some mind-bending solutions as the game unveils its story of childhood friendship and growing up.

The Gardens Between is currently slated to release in Q1 2018. Curious players can sign up for more information from the developer’s mailing list on the game’s site.
