Additionally, Crush 40 lead composer and guitarist Jun Senoue gave a few comments regarding the band’s latest tune:

“When I accepted the task to create music for Team Sonic Racing, I was asked to make the theme song a new song by Crush 40. The first game containing a song that Johnny and I recorded together came out worldwide in 1998-1999, so at this timing of Crush 40’s 20th anniversary in 2018-2019, I’m very happy that we were able to make a new song for the Sonic series.

Because it’s a racing game, we wanted to create a song that felt passionate, so we went back to our roots and created a simple but powerful melody. For Sonic Team in the USA, it seems our song’s reveal at E3 2018 had a stronger reaction than expected, and thanks to this, I was able to reconfirm how influential the Sonic series still is.

The songs in Team Sonic Racing will be revealed bit by bit starting this Fall, and with the release of the Short Ver. for ‘Green Light Ride’, the main theme, we’d like you to enjoy the song individually as well. Have fun listening to the song while you wait for more information on Team Sonic Racing!”

Team Sonic Racing will be released on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 21, 2019.
