Pom Pom Games, the creators of the two Mutant Storm Xbox Live Arcade games, is working on Astro Tripper their first game for PSN. Their project is a horizontal shooter with 1080p HD graphics and fourteen stages. Similar to some Cave games your ship comes equipped with a powerful, but narrow laser and a red spread laser. Both weapons can be powered up by grabbing crystals. Astro Tripper sounds run of the mill and the style doesn’t help distinguish it. I suppose it’s a positive note to see the PlayStation 3 getting some shooters. Sony’s console may be missing out on arcade ports, but PS3 owners can enjoy original games with PS3 specific features like trophies. Yeah, Astro Tripper has trophies if you care about boosting your PlayStation 3 trophy tally.
