Gunsport Trailer Shows You How Cyberpunk Volleyball Is Played

Necrosoft Games has released the first trailer for its cyberpunk “online multiplayer eSport” Gunsport. It’s heading to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 later this year.

You’ll have to wait until the end of the trailer to get a look at the game in motion. And even then the editing doesn’t make it perfectly clear, unfortunately. What you should be able to see is a 2v2 game involving guns and a ball in a cyberpunk future world. It’s also worth noting that what you’re seeing is the prototype and not the final game.

As we’ve said before, the idea is to get the ball to land on the ground in your opponent’s half to score points. You also need to make sure it doesn’t land on your side, obviously. You do this by shooting the ball into the air but you have to be careful not to miss as you have limited ammo.

Also, if both of you on your team shoot the ball at the same time it will travel twice as fast into your opponent’s half. Every time the ball passes over the net it becomes worth more points. So, the longer a rally goes on, the more is on the line for both sides.

Necrosoft Games recently took to the PlayStation Blog to further explain the characters and world in which Gunsport takes place. Here’s a choice quote:

“The current Neo Tokyo characters you see in the trailer, on the right side of the screen, are… shall we say apprentices in the game of Gunsport. Where you might consider these players to be initiates, or street punks, our final characters are masters, sponsored by the Yakuza for their prowess and what they represent to the national identity. That doesn’t mean they always go along with what others say, though.”
