Nintendo Adds A Modified Version Of Zelda 1 To The Switch Online NES Library

Nintendo has released the three latest NES games announced for October for the Nintendo Switch Online NES library, being Solomon’s Key, Super Dodge Ball, and NES Open Tournament Golf, but it also came with an unannounced fourth addition – The Legend of Zelda – Living the life of luxury!.

This changed-up version of The Legend of Zelda starts players off with the max number of rupees, keys, and bombs, as well as the Arrow, Blue Candle, Bait, and Red Potion already bought. The Blue Ring that halves damage, the Silver Sword that does twice as much damage as the basic Wooden Sword, and the Power Bracelet that lets Link push certain objects in the overworld have also been acquired. Three of the Heart Containers have also been gotten.

Several of the secrets have already been uncovered (mainly to get the rupees), but apart from the above, players will still need to play through all the dungeons in order to defeat Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda. Essentially, it eases off a bit of the grinding needed to get enough rupees for everything.

One interesting thing of note is that the game has a red ‘Special’ label both on the cover and the top-right side of the screen at all time. The Japanese site for the Famicom games note this version separate from the regular The Legend of Zelda with a generic star mark that is shown at the bottom to mean ‘Special Version’, showing that we will likely see more ‘Special Versions’ of games already in the lineup as the service goes on.

The Legend of Zelda – Living the life of luxury! is now available to those with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, alongside the other October titles.
