A New Sonic Mania Adventures Holiday Special Stars a Chao

It’s been a while since a new Sonic Mania Adventures video has been released, but Sega’s put together a new one for the holidays. This time, it takes people to a familiar place. Sonic heads to Chao Gardens and spends some time with an adventurous, sleepwalking Chao.

The new short is called Chao in Space. The Chao is having a wild dream about being a brave space warrior, heading off to face a grave enemy. But, it is all happening in their dreams. Which means Sonic has to follow behind his little friend and protect the dreamer from danger. In the meantime, Dr. Robotnik is dressed as Santa and trying to steal gifts in the background.

The Sonic Mania Adventures shorts are based on Sonic Mania. Its first part appeared back in March 2018, with subsequent episodes appearing in April 2018, May 2018, June 2018, and July 2018. It also received an Amy holiday special last December, a papercraft-inspired episode, and a making-of clip. There have also been similar animations for Team Sonic Racing, which also received Overdrive animations, and this Sonic Mania Adventures includes some Team Sonic Racing footage at the end. As pointed out by AuraGuyChris, this is also a nod to fake posters seen in Sonic Adventure 2.

Sonic Mania and its Plus update, can be found on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
