Kadokawa announced the latest of the RPG Maker series with Action Game Maker MV yesterday, and we got more details from the magazine on what players will get to do in the upcoming title. [Thanks, Hachima.]

The latest title of the Maker MV series will allow players to create 16-bit quality 2D action games. Players will get to easily create a variety of game styles including side-view to top-down view, and can easily implement offline multiplayer for up to four players.

Players won’t need to know how to program in order to create games. In addition to traditional side-scrolling action games, the game lets you make other kinds of action games in the style of Metroidvania or high-speed runner games like Sonic the Hedgehog, and more.

Furthermore, functions such graphic enlargement, reduction, and rotation can be casually implemented with ease. Using a variety of tools, players will get to use videos for backgrounds, and also use various visuals and music from past Maker games.

If you want, you can even make shooters with Action Game Maker MV. There will function expansion support with plug-ins as well. For now the game is being developed only for Windows, but it can be used for commercial purposes as well.

Action Game Maker MV is currently in development for PC. Its development is currently 70% complete and we can expect to see more of it at BitSummit Vol. 6 that takes place on May 12, 2018.
