It turns out one worldwide console version of Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue won’t be as complete as the others. PQube confirmed on Twitter that the Aokana PS4 version will not be identical to the Nintendo Switch and PC release. Instead, it will have seven altered or removed CGs.
Here is PQube’s full statement on the Aokana PS4 version’s changed content. It did not note which scenes will be altered and said in the tweet, “…We will not comment on the matter further.”
We have recently received many requests for clarification around the potential of scene modification on our upcoming visual novel release Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue.
These changes apply to the PlayStation 4 version only and contain amendments to a selection of images and text found in the game.
This includes four scenes which have been modified and three scenes which have been removed completely.

In the replies, it commented multiple times confirming the Nintendo Switch version of the game will be untouched.
PQube also clarified in a follow-up tweet that this is why there may be no Aokana PS4 physical release. It will still hold a Twitter poll, to see if potential buyers will be interested in one. However, at the moment, only an Aokana Switch physical copy has listings at retailers like GameStop.
Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue will come to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 outside Japan on August 21, 2020 and is immediately available on PCs. It originally launched on PCs in Japan back in 2014 and was an “adult” visual novel with dating sim elements. The ensuing console and handheld ports made it an all-ages game. (It is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita in Japan.)
