Famitsu and 4Gamer‘s interviews with developers on 2020 aspirations provides more context for the recent re-confirmation that Shin Megami Tensei V and Project Re Fantasy were still in active development just a few days ago. In particular, 2020 will likely have major announcements for both titles, especially with producers Shinjiro Takada and Katsura Hashino’s comments, which we’ve translated below: Shinjiro Takada – Shin Megami Tensei V “We’ll have news on the long-awaited Shin Megami Tensei V, so please look forward to it.” Katsura Hashino – Project Re Fantasy “Over the past few years, we’ve been working on a ‘fantasy RPG’ that’s rare for Atlus. I’ve stepped away from the game series I was in charge of for a while, to watch over the upcoming creatives, while struggling in a genre I’m unaccustomed to. In terms of being ‘unaccustomed’, it reminds me of the time Persona 3 was being developed, when I was first in charge of the series.  With the game I was last in charge of, Persona 5, I feel I was able to spread the joy of Atlus’ RPGs to the world, but just what will be born from our fantasy RPG? Going forward, I believe we’ll be able to show our new challenge to everyone, and while I’m afraid, I’m also looking forward to it. I hope it’s about time we can make an official announcement, so please look forward to it.” Shin Megami Tensei V is in development for Nintendo Switch. Project Re Fantasy is in development.
