Last year, Sega teased a new project for Border Break, which has now been revealed to be a PlayStation 4 free-to-play digital title with microtransactions.

Border Break was released by Sega into arcades in 2009, as a 10v10 ‘high-speed robot team battle’ game. Players had a limited amount of stamina and time to contribute to the overall battle in the arcade version, but the PS4 version will not have these elements.

According to series producer Seiji Aoki, the game will release ‘around the time it starts to feel hot’. There will also be an open beta test in February 2018.

There will be a ‘Story Mode’, a ‘Beginner Match’ mode, as well as Casual and Ranked Matches. In Story Mode, you play as Hati (CV: Reina Ueda), a girl seeking for revenge. She is supported by Mikoto (CV: Rie Takahashi), the team operator. However, ace pilot Managar (CV: Shunsuke Takeuchi) steps in to block Hati’s efforts.

Border Break’s F2P PlayStation 4 version will have an opening theme named ‘Amazing Trees’, composed by Hiroyuki Sawano. You can hear this, as well watch gameplay footage, in the promotional video below:
