Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 Design Philosophy Explains How This Installment Got Its SSS-Rank Style

    Devil May Cry 5 is back and returns to the same sort of designs and staples that have made this unique series what it has been since 2001. Now, to help people better understand what went into making it and why certain gameplay and character choices were made, Capcom put together a Devil May Cry 5 Design Philosophy video. In it, people get to hear what went through the team’s heads while making the game.

     

    The video begins with Hideaki Itsuno, Devil May Cry 5‘s Director, talking about his goals and vision for the game. It then goes on to offer additional insight and background from Yoichiro Ikeda, the Lead Game Designer, Michiteru Okabe and Matthew Walker, the two Producers, and Koki Kinoshita, the Art Director. After that, we get to hear from Daigo Ikeno, a Devil May Cry 5 designer, Lead Programmer Yoshiharu Nakao, and Lead Composer Kota Suzuki. In all, many important staff members who helped make the game what it is chime in with their insights into how it came to be.

    Devil May Cry 5 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As a reminder, it sold through 75.75% of its initial shipment in Japan.
