While Electronic Arts and 2K Sports have been making basketball games more visually realistic with each new title Honor Games International takes a different approach. China Basketball Open Online is an online basketball game coming to the PC based on the Chinese Amateur Basketball Association. What Honor Games International Games plans to do is bring in the amateur league to play CBO Online when they’re not practicing shots from the foul line. Every amateur team will get a chance to set up their own online team. Fans will be able to challenge their favorite team online and rival teams can have virtual matches. It’s an evolutionary concept for sports games to get the actual players involved in online matches, one that the Global Gaming League embraced. Honor Games International plans to work with the GGL to set up online and offline tournaments to give fans, gamers and the players involved in CBO Online. It’s going to be interesting to see if the concept of CBO Online picks up in China. If it does maybe EA Sports will pull in the players of Arena Football or 2K sports will sign the amateur baseball league for a similar deal in North America.
