You might say “oh, another day, another indie game that wants to be Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.” And that’s fair. But Dark Flame seems to have some conviction behind its throwback, at least.

It’s a 2D action-RPG that’s made to look and play quite a bit like Symphony of the Night. So, yes, large-scale gothic environments, a range of blades, magic, and armor to equip, and lots of dark knight-like enemies that’ll be all too happy to show a sword in your spleen.

There’s a pre-alpha demo of Dark Flame that you can download here. And the game is currently up on Kickstarter where its creators are seeking $75,000 to develop the game to its finish.
