The North American debut of Mario’s Super Picross and fan-favorite Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest are coming to Nintendo Switch Online on September 23, 2020. They’ll be joined by The Peace Keepers and S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team in the update in North America and Europe.
Scrolling space shooter S.C.A.T. will be added to the Nintendo Entertainment System app, while the other three are Super NES releases. Donkey Kong Country 2 follows the first game onto the service after its inclusion in the July 15 update. The sequel focuses on Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong and their more acrobatic action-platforming maneuvers. The Peace Keepers, a 1994 Jaleco side-scrolling beat-’em-up. Mario’s Super Picross, one of the first Picross game from longtime developer Jupiter, first launched in 1995 and has never before been released in America. The game did release on Virtual Console services on Wii, Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS in PAL territories.
The Japanese lineup update also includes Donkey Kong Country 2, but instead features Wild Guns, Super Tennis and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. Mystery of the Emblem is an enhanced remake of the first Famicom Fire Emblem game that was itself remade as a Japan-only Nintendo DS game. (It’s the one with Marth!) Super Tennis and Wild Guns are already available on the Western service.
Strangely, while other regions get the game this month, the Japanese service doesn’t yet include Mario’s Super Picross.
Nintendo of America also shared a video guide to playing Mario’s Super Picross, in case you’re new to Picross games and aren’t helped by the still-in-Japanese in-game instructions:
These games join Super Mario All-Stars, which was added to the service worldwide on September 3, 2020, as the latest inclusions on the platform.
