Famitsu recently published the results of their overseas poll for Dragon Quest XI S, including who people’s favorite character was. That character, as you might have seen from the title, is Sylvando.
As a side note, most of the answers were from the US, contributing over 2,000 of the poll answers. Most of the replies were from men, and came from the 20-29 and 30-39 age group. Around a half of the replies came from players who had played the PS4, PC, or 3DS version, and a half of those people having went on to play the Switch version.
Here are the highlights below:
Q. Check all other Dragon Quest titles you have played
- Dragon Quest I（Dragon Warrior）：1323
- Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King：1186
- Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride：1039
- Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past（Dragon Warrior VII）：1029
- Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation：1006
Contrary to expectations, Dragon Quest I came first in terms of the number of replies. Meanwhile, Dragon Quest IX came in sixth place just behind Dragon Quest VI, at 995 votes.

Q. Which character is your favorite if you have to choose one?
- Jade: 606
- Veronica: 506
- The Luminary: 289
Sylvando’s popularity stemmed from his flamboyant personality that hid a knight’s honor. The parade and events surrounding Hendrick were also quite popular. Meanwhile, Erik was popular due to his brotherly bond with the Luminary, and his powerful ability. Jade was popular due to her ‘older sister’-like relationship with the Luminary, and hiding adept fighting prowess behind her cute looks.
Hendrick ranked the 6th (280 votes), Serena the 7th (237), and Rab the 8th (152), with reasons regarding their personality and battle usefulness. Some people chose ‘Slime’ due to them being iconic DQ monsters.
