Enemy Front Looks Like A Shooter That Might Stand Out Amidst The Rest

“Because of my anti-fascist Germanism I was already an enemy of the Nazis, and people were being killed for a lot less than that. My photographer and I were running for the Swiss border, and that’s when things took a fatal turn…”

Woah. The first few lines of CI Games’ Enemy Front aren’t joking around. It even sounds like the hammy inner-monologue of an American War journalist. Although the World War II shooter has been bobbing in and out of development for the past few years, it seems like Enemy Front has finally found its theme, and from what little I saw of it at Bandai Namco’s Gamer’s Day, it looks like a game that might stand out amidst the myriad of shooters out there.

Rather than sampling famous battles from the entirety of the war, CI Games, a Polish studio, chose to focus on an event close to home: the Warsaw Uprising.

Enemy Front puts you in the shoes of an American War Journalist whose fight for survival takes him through what seems to be an incredibly moving story about one of World War II’s most famous rebellions.

While you’ll encounter familiar mechanics like holding your breath while preparing to fire a sniper rifle or using your binoculars to scout out how you’re going to sneak about an area, one thing that’ll likely surprise you is this game’s environment. The colors are vibrant, and the land is verdant—you can hear the trees rustling quietly in the wind, and see flowers blossoming on the hillsides.

An eerie piano score plays in the background, a tiptoeing theme that sometimes bursts into a full orchestra, or occasionally shrinks to a single, fragile note on a viola.

Enemy Front, it’s a war game written by Hemmingway, with a nice injection of heritage and noir. Once you get pass the familiar mechanics and graphics that are very much akin to an early 360 game, it might just be something unique.
