Fate/Grand Order Lady Reines’s Case Files Event Begins

The next Fate/Grand Order event has kicked off, and its title is “Lady Reines’s Case Files,” the previously teased crossover with the Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files series. In an update on the official site, Aniplex revealed details of the event and how it will play out.

The titular “Lady Reines” refers to Reines El-Melloi Archisorte, young head of the El-Melloi mage clan. She plays a major role in both the Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files series and in the event. She also joins the playable roster as the latest Fate/Grand Order Rider-class Servant. Just as Waver Velvet merged with the Chinese strategist Zhuge Liang in order to manifest as a Servant in FGO‘s world, Reines joined up with another Three Kingdoms-era Chinese luminary, Sima Yi. Sima Yi was chief adviser and regent to the kingdom of Wei and gained fame for repelling repeated invasions by Wei’s rival kingdoms in the second century. Accordingly, Reines is an Arts-element Rider with a strong defensive play style. Her Noble Phantasm is unique in that it can negate class-based affinities temporarily, preventing enemies from exploiting class advantage.

Also joining the roster during the Lady Reines’s Case Files event is Astraea, the third 4-Star Ruler-class character in Fate/Grand Order. The Greek goddess of justice has chosen a mortal vessel in the form of Luvia Edelfelt, a Fate franchise alum best known to fans of the Prisma Ilya spinoff and players of the Fate/Stay Night: Hollow Ataraxia expansion. As a Ruler, Astraea takes only half damage from most other classes, and her skills emphasize Critical Hit-based damage dealing.

As for the event itself, Lady Reines’s Case Files is a mission-based event. Fate/Grand Order Players will play story quests to unlock repeatable free quests, and accomplish various objectives (such as killing a certain amount of specific enemy types). Event Craft Essence equipment acquired for free currency can be equipped to boost the spawn rate of specific enemies and shorten the grind. Certain Servants also have damage bonuses when deployed, so players with a deep bench can take advantage of their roster to smooth the proceedings.

Players will also gain access to Gray, Lord El-Melloi II’s assistant from the Case Files series, and an Assassin-class Servant. clearing the main quest line will unlock her permanently for future use.

The Fate/Grand Order Lady Reines’s Case Files event runs until May 13, 2021. The game is immediately available on Android and iOS.
