Fate/Grand Order players can look forward to a new crossover event from the wider Fate multiverse coming soon. Aniplex has announced a pre-release promotional campaign for an upcoming event based on the anime and novel series Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files. The pre-release campaign starts on April 25, 2021, and runs through May 9, 2021, just ahead of when the actual event kicks off.
Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files is a light novel series and a spin-off of Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night. It stars the character Lord El-Melloi II, who participated in the events shown in Fate/Zero as the young mage Waver Velvet. Now grown and given temporary leadership of the El-Melloi mage clan, he works as a professor at the Mage Association who solves magecraft-involved mysteries on the side.
The Fate/Grand Order event based on the series involves El-Melloi II as he appears in FGO – as the Servant Zhuge Liang. Details about the event itself aren’t fully revealed on the official website, but based on its 2019 run in Japan, it’ll reward players with a new free Servant based on Waver’s assistant, Gray. The premium summoning will also add Servants based on the characters Reines and Luvia.
The Fate/Grand Order x Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files pre-release campaign is a fairly simple weeklong login promotion, rewarding players who log in each day during the campaign with AP-restoring Golden Fruit items. However, a few other conveniences will be brought online to help players prepare for the event. Event-related Servants like Zhuge Liang, James Moriarty, Iskandar, and Charles Babbage will have increased success rates when fed EXP cards to level them up. They’ll also earn double the Friend Points when used by other players as Support. Lastly, all the available EXP and character upgrade material-gathering missions will be unlocked for the duration of the pre-release campaign.
Players with Quartz to spend can also try their hand at a premium summoning banner promising increased rates for Zhuge Liang and Alexander. It should be noted that both Servants aren’t limited, though, so frugal Masters are best served holding back on a roll.
The Fate/Grand Order x Lord El-Melloi II‘s Case Files event pre-release campaign kicks off on April 29, 2021 and continues through May 9. The game is immediately available on Android and iOS. The previous new event was Ooku, a Fate/Extra CCC crossover.
