The Creation of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers video series aims to show the thought process behind the making of the expansion. The six-part series focuses on various elements of the MMORPG title, with the final one being about the battles.

Episode Six features the following members from the development team:

  • Masaki Nakagawa (Lead Battle Content Designer)
  • Tsuyoshi Yokozawa (Lead Battle System Designer)

The episode starts with lead battle content designer Masaki Nakagawa. The designer talks about the battle design perspective and keeping things interesting for the players. We get right into it with an example from the Copies Factory NieR: Automata collaboration raid. Next, we have Lead battle system designer Tsuyoshi Yokozawa who talks about the Trust System. Shadowbringers introduced the system as a way to allow players to take on main scenario quests with a party of allied NPCs. These dungeons were designed with multiple players in mind, so you can imagine the work that went behind the system.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. You can also check out the previous episode that covered music from the expansion here.
