Square Enix has released new details about Episode Gladiolus, Final Fantasy XV’s first add-on. We already knew that this first episode would make Gladiolus playable and focus on a part of the adventure where the characters weren’t always together. Now, we know that Gladiolus and his mentor, Cor, are off to face Blademaster Gilgamesh. As the only other person to go through this trial in Lucis’ ancient ruins, Cor will accompany Gladio as he prepares to fight the Shield of the Founder King and prove he is fit to be the current King’s Shield.
With Episode Gladiolus, players are seeing Final Fantasy XV through the eyes of someone other than Noctis and accessing an entirely new part of the Kingdom of Lucis. There, Gladio will be able to take advantage of a Valor blocking and Rage counterattacking system while dealing with enemies. In addition to the campaign, Score Attack and Final Trials unlock when Episode Gladiolus is concluded and some items acquired in this story segment can be transferred to a main game save.
Final Fantasy XV is available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Episode Gladiolus will be released on March 28, 2017, followed by Episode Prompto in June 2017. Episode Ignis and the Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades’ release dates have yet to be announced.
