Note: The trailer contains spoilers for Fuga: Melodies of Steel.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is a sequel to 2021’s Fuga: Melodies of Steel, and its story will build off hints dropped in a “Secret Video” found after completing the first game. The story takes place a year after the events of Melodies of Steel. The children who won the war with the giant tank Taranis have returned home to live in peace. Unfortunately, half of the group are trapped within the Taranis as it goes on a rampage. To save and avenge their kidnapped kin, Malt and the remaining children board the Tarascus, a counterpart to the Taranis that was piloted by the children’s foe, General Hax.

Melodies of Steel 2 will incorporate enhancements and new twists on the systems and weaponry introduced in the first game. Onboard the Tarascus, Malt and his companions can use the Managarm, a new weapon that presents an alternative to using the Soul Cannon, which consumed the soul of a child to fire. The Managarm feeds off a child’s lifeforce, incapacitating them for the battle when fired. New and improved skills will be introduced. A “Judgment” system will add reactivity to Malt’s decision-making, as well as unlock new Leader Skills to use in combat. Expeditions, battle routes, and notebook tasks will also allow the children to build up their combat strength outside of battle.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 launches worldwide on May 11, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out Siliconera’s review of the first game.
