The open beta client will be available to download starting May 7. Those who participated in the previous beta test will be able to update the client without having to re-download. As with the previous beta, the second beta will be available exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. Notably, there is no longer a different start date for those who pre-ordered the game and the general public.

Additionally, Arc System Works has made various changes to the game after receiving feedback from the previous test. Among these changes is a new Duel Station battle queue system for the Online Lobby and a rematch function. This will allow players to rematch up to 3 times in the Rank Tower and an unlimited amount of times in the Open Park.

The Online Lobby in particular was a major pain point for many players. Over 50% of the reviews were negative in a survey conducted after the previous beta test. Server issues kept players from playing the game both online and offline, which forced Arc System Works to extend the first open beta and even delay the game’s release.

Guilty Gear Strive‘s second open beta test will add fighters Anji Mito and I-No, completing the 15-character roster. It will also address issues surrounding jumping during battle, and adjust combat accordingly. Aerial actions will cause recovery upon landing, and jumping as well as air dashes will cover less ground. The normal → + P command will work as an anti-air attack, with an expanded upward hitbox and longer attack duration.

The second open beta for Guilty Gear Strive will be available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 starting May 13, 2021, and will end May 16, 2021. Guilty Gear Strive will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on June 11, 2021.
