Gundam SEED Freedom Movie Poster Mirrors Dune: Part Two

A new Gundam SEED: Freedom movie key visual appeared on the Japanese Dune: Part Two Twitter (X) account, showing Kira and Lacus in the same pose as Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya on the theatrical release poster. According to the post, the collaboration between the two movies is due to similarities to these two duos.

The Tweet compares the Paul and Chani duo with Kira and Lacus. Paul is preparing to overthrow House Harkonnen along with Chani, who will fight at his side as someone who understands him well. Meanwhile, Kira and Lacus are preparing for their own final battle. Even though they aren’t always sure of what’s the best for everyone, they will do what they can for their own beliefs. The Tweet states that the way that they stand up against destiny is very similar. In the Gundam SEED: Freedom version of the Dune: Part Two poster, we can see mechanical birds—a mascot from Seed—flying over head. Hisashi Hirai, who was the character designer for the movie and original show, drew this poster.

Gundam SEED: Freedom is the direct sequel of Gundam Seed Destiny, which was in turn a sequel to the first Gundam Seed. The movie had an original story, as well as new mobile suits. It aired in Japan on January 26, 2024.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom is still available to watch in certain movie theaters in Japan.
