Sega is helping fans get a better understanding of Hokuto ga Gotoku with a series of videos. We previously learned about its combat, and today we have videos for “Eden” and the “Wasteland” areas.
In the world of Fist of the North Star the seas have dried and the earth has cracked with the world in ruins. There’s no food or water to be found, but in the middle of nothingness there’s a miraculous city called Eden where there’s food, water, electricity, and even entertainment.
In Hokuto ga Gotoku you’ll get to play around in Eden the way you like. You can take on thugs, hit up the casino for some games, including some old school Sega arcade games. There are a bunch of other mini-games such as going to night clubs or even using Kenshiro’s powers to heal clients at the hospital or to make a killer cocktail as a bartender.
The wastelands of Hokuto ga Gotoku are vast, really vast. While the previous video mentioned that it’s full of nothingness out there, this one says that it’s not exactly the case, as you find cities to visit and items to find.
Using the buggy will help you get around the huge desert, and you can even customize them to help reach areas. For example, one area might be blocked off with boulders but you’ll get to break your way through them with a customized buggy. There’s also some treasure hunting that you can do to score some loot, a racing mini-game, and even a “Death Batting” mini-game where you hit incoming thugs on motorcycles.
However, the one thing you’ll always want to be careful about in the Wastelands is to make sure you don’t run out of gas. Running out of gas will result in a game over.
Hokuto ga Gotoku releases in Japan on March 8, 2018 for PlayStation 4. A demo is currently available to try out in Japan.
