If you complete the New Delsta “The Traveler’s Bag” and Montwise “Procuring Peculiar Tomes” side stories in Octopath Traveler 2, “From the Far Reaches of Hell” unlocks immediately after. Once you give the librarian the three missing tomes, there’s a hint there’s more to come. She’ll note that they can’t offer From the Far Reaches of Hell to visitors, as there’s no translation.
On that same floor in the library, on the eastern side, you’ll find Al from “The Traveler’s Bag.” He wants to read From the Far Reaches of Hell, but can’t translate it. After talking with both NPCs, they’ll note someone named Georges Lazuli could probably help. However, he’s on some island somewhere. Well, said island is the Nameless Isle that is north of Toto’haha. Sail up to the island in your boat and journey as far in as you can go. Note that this is a level 38 area. At the far back of the island, you’ll be warned about a strong enemy. You’ll then need to face the boss Gigantes.
This is a fairly strong fight. Especially since even though the character would normally only have nine shield points, it uses an attack to immediately buff that up to 11, and it can strengthen its shield further by attacking. Plus, it has 50,000 HP. It is weak against swords, bows, fire, ice, and lightning. (It can also temporarily nullify some of its weaknesses during the fight.) Beating it gets you Revitalizing Jam. It also means you can access the Finisher’s Claws in the chest behind it.
Georges appears after you defeat Gigantes. Get the information out of him with an action like Bribe or Scrutinize. (I bribed him, which cost 5,000 leaves.) You’ll then get “How to Decipher Unknown Languages.
Take that back to Al in the Montwise library. You’ll get 4,500 leaves and a Coat of Arms for finishing “From the Far Reaches of Hell” in Octopath Traveler 2.
Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.
