How do I get Midna’s Helmet in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

If you are tired of having your hearts drained while exploring the Depths, you are not alone. I can’t count how many battles I’ve lost against those terrifying Gloom Hands. I know your pain. However, Midna’s Helmet will give you an advantage the next time you venture underneath Hyrule, as Link gains Gloom Resistance while wearing it.

To get Midna’s Helmet in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you need to travel to Eventide Island and enter the chasm located on its sandy shores. The tropical location is found at the very southern tip of Hyrule, in the ocean just west of East Necluda.

The easiest way to reach Eventide Island is to build a boat by fusing a Zonai Fan with two tree logs. Once you’ve arrived, head to the island’s northern beach and use Link’s glider to drop into the Eventide Chasm. After landing in the Depths, continue north to the Lone Island Coliseum. A glowing red chest is waiting for you here, though you have to overcome a battle to open it.

It’s recommended that Link has at least 10 hearts before attempting this. You should also have a lot of healing potions on hand, as the enemies dish out a lot of damage. Approach the chest to start the battle. After defeating four waves of enemies, the red Gloom surrounding the chest will dissipate, and you will be able to open it for Midna’s Helmet. The Twilight Princess armor has a seven-rated Defense stat and comes with Gloom Resistance.

After you obtain Midna’s Helmet, make sure to take the Lone Island Coliseum’s south exit and unlock the Ni-iraram Lightroot. The waypoint will give you a new fast-travel spot and reveal more of the Depths map.

Because of how powerful the headgear already is, you won’t be able to visit any of the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Fairy Fountains to upgrade it further. However, the Gloom Resistance still makes Midna’s Helmet a must-have item for late-game content.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
