Koei Tecmo Trademarks “Seiken Musou” But It Probably Isn’t What You’re Thinking

We learned today that Koei Tecmo filed a trademark for “Seiken Musou” on March 15 in Japan, but it may not be the Seiken or Musou you’re thinking. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]   While “Musou” (means “unmatched”) is synonymous with the Warriors series in Japan, as is Seiken (“Holy Sword”) is to the Mana series, it can be seen in other titles such is the case for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming adventure film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which is titled King Arthur: Seiken Densetsu in Japan.   Japanese fans were extra cautious upon seeing the trademark after many were excited to see “Seiken Musou” trending on Twitter last month, only to realize that it was just for the upcoming movie featuring Charlie Hunnam as King Arthur.   Let’s not forget that we never did find out about Koei Tecmo’s collaboration with a Western IP, so this could also be it. In any case, it shouldn’t be too long until we hear more about this mystery Seiken Musou that will likely continue confusing fans with its title.
