Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

A teaser for a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 called Metal Gear Solid Delta was shared during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. It showed the iconic game’s main character, Snake, in a whole new look using the new graphical engine.

The trailer starts following diverse creatures in a jungle, mainly showing a snake fighting back against an alligator before finally revealing Snake hidden in the environment. This teaser follows the principle of the first game’s focus on camouflage and the whole mission across the jungle. This remake will drop the number 3 for a delta (Δ) sign instead.

Konami hasn’t shared much news about the franchise since series Director Hideo Kojima’s departure from the company in 2015. The last game in the franchise released without Kojima’s participation was Metal Gear Survive, which debuted to mixed reviews. Rather than a mainline entry, it was a spin-off.

Originally released in 2004, Metal Gear Solid 3 followed a young “Big Boss” still using the nickname of “Naked Snake.” In it, you had to fight against a series of professional mercenaries in order to stop Snake’s former mentor, The Boss. The game was praised due to its engaging story and groundbreaking mechanics.

The Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake of the third game will be available for the PS5, and no release date has been confirmed yet.
