Earlier this week, Falcom announced that they’re working on a new Ys title for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, which looks similar to Ys Seven on PSP. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine tells us a little more about the upcoming game. [Thanks, Hokanko-Alt.]
According to Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo, they’re thinking about having the game take place in an era that takes place sometime before Ys Seven, with plans to write something that fills in the blank between Ys V and VI.
The new Ys title will also depict an overall strong sense of the “sea” as a theme. As far as gameplay goes, they’ll introduce new action elements and systems, too. The game will feature new characters along with the appearance of others from past Ys games.
President Kondo says that the staff are currently going through plenty of trial-and-error on the development for PlayStation 4, but their motivation is high as ever. They also want to try something using the PS4’s share function.
Finally, he says that they’re working their hardest so that they can release the game as soon as possible. More details on the new Ys game will be revealed soon, perhaps during Tokyo Game Show 2014 late this month.
The upcoming Ys game will release in Japan sometime in 2015 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
