Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Overview Trailer Breaks Down Gameplay

Nintendo published a new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Overview Trailer, which highlights basic gameplay mechanics that will appear in the title. This includes other useful information, such as a better introduction to the three Starter Pokemon. Alongside general details about the Paldea Region, such as unique variants and entirely new Pokemon players can acquire there. The Overview Trailer also briefly touched upon the Terastallization mechanic, which is entirely unique to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Tera Raid battles were touched upon in the trailer. Footage showed up to four players taking on a wild Pokemon as a timer counted down in real-time. This is different than how Pokemon Sword and Shield handled Raid Battles. Which had a countdown timer based on turns passed.

You can watch the gameplay in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Overview Trailer below. Please keep in mind that it will contain spoilers, such as footage of new Pokemon (and version exclusives), explanations of new mechanics, and a brief glimpse of notable NPCs.

Additionally, the trailer goes into other features. This includes the use of the Camera App to take in-game screenshots that can be applied to your unique player profile. Players can also have picnics with their Pokemon, which will increase their bond. The picnic mechanic will let you wash your Pokemon, and assemble a sandwich that you can share with your party.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will launch on November 18, 2022.
