Players’ knuckles will launch tornadoes, huge mechanical fists, balls of energy, and knock their enemies across the screen in Ruin of the Reckless, a top-down roguelike about climbing a tower to have a wish granted.
While fists are handy, Ruin of the Reckless features many different weapons, but all with a melee focus that forces players to get close to their enemies. They will also have access to spell books that will add magical effects to the player’s attacks, although they have limited charges, and will drain at different speeds depending on which effect the player chooses to use. Players will also be able to find skill orbs they can consume to enhance their power, or even just use those orbs as weapons themselves.
While fighting enemies up close is important, players will want to get out of the way quickly as well. As such, they can equip different styles of boots that alter their dash, extending or tightening up its range, letting players chain dashes, and customize the way that they flee combat or stay out of the enemy’s range.
Players will tackle a different version of the tower on each run due to the random generation of each area. Dying will also end the run, but players can find cards that they’ll be able to keep between rounds should they complete certain challenges. These cards offer great benefits, but also dangerous drawbacks, so players will want to use them with care.
