Psychonauts and Brutal Legend developer, Double Fine, have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a classic point-and-click adventure game. Development of the title will be headed up by Double Fine founder, Tim Schafer (Grim Fandango (above), Day of the Tentacle).
The Kickstarter goal for the project is $400,000. So far, fans have managed to collectively contribute about $100,000. Once the goal is reached, development of the game will be carried out over a period of 6-8 months.
Contributors will have exclusive viewing rights to a monthly video documentation of the game’s development process, as well as an opportunity to beta-test the game. Once development ends, they’ll get a free copy of the game, as well as other rewards detailed on the Kickstarter page.
As of now, the game, tentatively titled Double Fine Adventure, has only been announced for a PC release via Steam, but other platforms such as iPad might be a possibility, considering Double Fine say they will use “modern touch technology”.
