24 Caret Games are releasing “rhythm/shoot-em-up” Retro/Grade on the PlayStation Network this August. To set itself apart from other shoot-em-ups, the game plays in reverse—you fend off a massive alien invasion at the start of the game, disrupts time and makes it move backwards.

Since everything is reversed, you’re now undoing actions to protect the space/time continuum, like “unfiring” your shots, which are timed to the beat of the game’s soundtrack. You can watch a trailer for Retro/Grade above.

Retro/Grade will be released for the PlayStation 3 via PSN on August 21st.
