Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake Delayed Out of ‘Early’ 2024

Koei Tecmo’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake is still slated for release in 2024, but is delayed. The company initially planned to release the remake in the early months of 2024, however it later announced a delay that changed the release window to cover the whole year.

Koei Tecmo first revealed Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake at the Japanese September 2023 Nintendo Direct. As the title implies, this title will be a remake of the strategy game that originally came out in 2001. The remake will also add new features like Tales based on historical events and Links forged by improving relationship levels with other characters.

The game’s producer Kazuhiro Echigoya and development producer Hisatsugu Ishikawa shared a message detailing the reason for delaying the remake’s release. The message is also available in English via Koei Tecmo America’s official X account:

Most games in Koei Tecmo’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms series—including the latest 2020 entry Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV—only let players act as faction rulers. The eighth entry, which this remake will be based on, is one of the few four that feature additional viewpoints as vassals and free officers. The other games with the same features are the seventh entry in 2000, the tenth in 2004, and the thirteenth in 2016.

The official trailer for the upcoming remake is available to watch right below:

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2024.
