Kadokawa Games announced via Famitsu that their PS4 and PS Vita visual novel title, Root Letter, has surpassed 200,000 in worldwide sales since its release in Japan in June 2016.

While 200,000 might not seem that significant of a figure, it’s pretty exceptional for a visual novel title, and one that opened with a debut of 4,855 copies sold on PS Vita and 4,052 on PS4 for a combined total 8,907 copies sold in Japan back in June 2016 when it released.

Since then, it released in Asia shorly after, Europe in October, and North America in November before reaching the 200,000 milestone announced today. This comes to show that just because a game doesn’t perform particularly well in Japan, it doesn’t mean that it can’t fare better in other parts—even visual novels.

Root Letter is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
