Samurai Shodown Trailer Reintroduces The Legendary Hanzo Hattori

Following right behind Jubei Yagyu’s reveal is a Samurai Shodown trailer for someone who’s known him for a long time: Hanzo Hattori. The Iga ninja is the latest character to get a gameplay video. This serious warrior has been a part of the series since the original Samurai Shodown in 1993.

As a ninja, Hanzo is known for his ninjutsu. He has shuriken he can throw and he has some teleportation techniques. (Both of these are shown off in his initial footage.) He was inspired by the legendary Tokugawa ninja.

In the series, he’s experienced quite a bit of tragedy. For example, in the very first game, his son Shinzo was possessed. He wasn’t able to save Shinzo initially. In the second game in the series, he and his wife, Kaede of the Koga, head out to try and get Shinzo’s soul back in his body, but she ended up needing to sacrifice herself as a result.

Here is the Hanzo Hattori Samurai Shodown trailer.

In addition to Hanzo, Samurai Shodown trailers have appeared for Nakoruru, Darli Dagger, Ukyo Tachibana, Shiki, Charlotte, Haohmaru, Genjuro, Tam Tam, Rimururu, Galford (with Poppy), and Jubei Yagyu.

Samurai Shodown will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Japan on June 27, 2019 and in Winter 2019 for the Switch and PC. The game will be released in the West for PS4 and Xbox One in June 2019.
