We got plenty of new details on the recently announced Shining Resonance Refrain, an upcoming remaster of the PS3 RPG. Sega had more to share in its interview with Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima.]

We learned that Shining Resonance Refrain will add a new “what if” story called Refrain Mode. In this mode, Excela and Jenius join from the very beginning, and you’ll even get to go on dates with them  during Night Events and Marga City. Yuma, Excela, and Jenius will all have newly recorded lines.

The new theme song is called “Eternal Color of Aria” and it is sung by Kirika (CV: Saori Hayami) and Sonia (CV: Asami Seto). Kirika will also get two new swimsuit outfits called “Black Lotus Swimsuit” and “Crimson Lotus Swimsuit,” both designed by character designer Tony Taka who wishes to see a revival of the Shining series. Kirika wearing the “Black Lotus Swimsuit” will be available as a figure in a Sega Store-exclusive pack.

Lastly in the interview, Sega stated that up until now they’ve been releasing the Shining games in Japan and Asia, but now they’re thinking about a worldwide dispatch. While this doesn’t mean anything is set in stone, this is the first time in a while that we’ve heard anything from Sega about a worldwide development for the Shining series.

Shining Resonance Refrain releases in Japan on March 29, 2018 for PlayStation 4. Development is currently 90% complete.
