If you’ve ever wanted to send Monokuma a love letter, here is your chance. Danganronpa: Despair Love Letter is a new take on the classic board game Love Letters. Unlike the version that board game enthusiasts might be familiar with, Despair Love Letter will implement a “Hope” and “Despair” card feature. The Danganronpa: Despair Love Letter board game will cost ¥2,500 or roughly $25 and is planned to release sometime in September 2020. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
You take the role of a student at Hope’s Peak Academy who is tasked with delivering letters to Monokuma while trying to escape. There will also be instances where players will be be able to collaborate with characters from the Danganronpa series. Cards can be played in two modes, “Hope” and “Despair.” When playing a card in “Despair” players can take riskier moves, adding a new level of excitement to the traditional formula of Love Letters.
