Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, a Metroid-esque Shantae game with a large, interconnected world is headed to the Nintendo 3DS later this year. In addition, developer WayForward are also creating a separate Shantae game for the PC, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and launched a Kickstarter campaign for it this morning.

Titled Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, the game will takes cues from Metroid, Zelda and Castlevania, and will feature an all-new art style and story. Like the Metroid-inspired Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, it will feature an interconnected world.

WayForward have set their funding goal at $400,000. This, they say, will allow them to create three chapters of the game and an “exciting conclusion”. With the help of stretch goals, however, they hope to add more features, such as being able to play as Shante’s arch-nemesis, Risky Boots, and a bonus chapter to play through.

More details regarding Shantae: Half-Genie Hero are available on the game’s Kickstarter page, along with information on the game’s stretch goals.
