Today at Bitsummit Gaiden, Inti Creates revealed that Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will release on July 10, 2020. Apart from a new trailer, producer Koji Igarashi also appeared alongside Inti Creates president Takuya Aizu to discuss the characteristics of each of the playable characters. Igarashi confirms that Curse of the Moon 2 was developed due to the overwhelmingly positive reception to the first title, and that while the events that occur are different from Ritual of the Night, the characters appearing keep the same sort of rough character setting. Additionally, the game is once again developed with multiple playthroughs in mind, especially considering the many combinations of characters available.

While the game is level-focused and plot elements are light, Igarashi says that there is roughly twice the amount of plot elements in this game compared to the first. Additionally, 2-player co-op was shown off, and Igarashi and Aizu showed off how you can combine sub-weapons to great effect, or have one player stand on another so that one person can focus on attacking. While the feature is technically local only, supporting Nintendo Switch’s split Joy-Cons, it will also support PlayStation 4 Remote Play and Steam’s Remote Play Together features, meaning that there is still a way of playing over long distances.

Finally, a July 10, 2020 release date was announced, alongside a $14.99 price tag for the game. It will cost 1,480 yen in Japan.

Inti Creates later also streamed some direct-feed gameplay, which you can watch below:

Aizu mentions that the game is a continuation from the ending where Zangetsu joins forces with all allies in the first game. Additionally, he reveals that Igarashi got angry at them for adding the option to kill allies for new abilities in the first game, so this time, Zangetsu gains abilities via items. There was also feedback that Zangetsu was a bit useless in the first game compared to the other three characters, which is why he powers up over the course of the game. Finally, there are also new small cutscenes that show Zangetsu bonding with his allies, because of feedback that Zangetsu’s change of heart in the first game was very sudden.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will launch on July 10, 2020 for the PS4, the Xbox One, the PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
