The first trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie sequel appeared at The Game Awards 2021. The new trailer reveals the film’s premise, and offers a look at Tails and Knuckles in action. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will debut in theaters on April 22, 2022.
Notably, the trailer gives us the first look at Elba’s Knuckles, who looks to be working for Doctor Robotnik. It also briefly mentions the existence of Chaos Emeralds, which Robotnik is looking to control.

The official Sonic Twitter account teased the trailer ahead of the awards show along with the reveal of a new poster design. Similarly, veteran voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey confirmed that she would reprise the role of Tails in the upcoming movie. She will join other big-name Hollywood actors, including Idris Elba as Knuckles and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will appear in theaters on April 8, 2022. The first Sonic movie is available to watch on multiple streaming services.
